'T' for Typography

Font Crush!

Do you love fonts like I love fonts? I spent several thousand dollars on them last year, and I’m not even sure what the total has been so far for 2007. Don’t worry, they’re tax deductible for me (like that actually justifies anything). Plus, I need them! Fonts for logos, fonts for websites, fonts for stationery, fonts for new card designs, fonts because they’re pretty… OK, maybe that last reason isn’t valid.

Anyway. Point is, me likey some fonts. And now you can benefit.

Font Crush!

I’ve started with five free fonts: cantabile, fizzpop, ghostwood, pharmacy (as seen in the banner above), and woody. They’re rotating randomly with each page load. Look for them on the far right sidebar, above my wishlist.

I’ll add new fonts periodically too. Would you like me to stick to the freebies (usually available for personal use only), or should I include fonts to be purchased as well?

    This. Is. So. Awesome.

I say include fonts that are not free. I’m sure quite a number of your readers use fonts for business purposes.

    They are all very cute…

Pharmacy, however, is a bootlegged version of Filosofia Unicase. You can get the real thing from MyFonts.com.

I am obsessed with fonts as well. Often when we’re out I’ll start naming the fonts on different signage..annoys my husband I’m sure. I’m such a nerd.

I’d love to see your font crushes. I also think it’s important to share licensed fonts. Too often, free fonts are fun for like a few moments until you realize you really need something that can stand on it its own.

Not sure if anybody can understand that but hopefully some of you can.

And if you haven’t seen it yet, you should definitely check out the documentary film, Helvetica by Gary Hustwit. Super awesome.

My partner likes to refer to my love of fonts as my “font fetish”.
I had to smile when I read your “tax deductible” comment – I use this ‘excuse’ all the time. “…But babe… I can claim it back on tax” – this comes out with every font purchase, and any addition to my ridiculously overstocked stationery supply cupboard!
I’ve just discovered your blog – lovin’ it. Looking forward to getting to know you better!

Definitely a font crusher. My current faves are oldies but goodies: Museo, Avenir, Goudy Old Style. Two scripts that I love, love, love are Montelago and zebra. I wish I had found your site(s) sooner…I LOVE your style.
