Ooh, a lucite table is a good idea! The little side table that's in there now is cute, but the unintended effect is that the room is starting to look a little themey.

I think a bed under the eaves is very cozy. I'm not sure how to post a pic here, but if you go about 1/2 way down this post http://blog.designpublic.com/2007/10/10/alisons-heroic-branford-coastal-renovation/

you can see that her bed is tucked under the eaves. Of course, if two people are in there, there might be a concussion involvoed. It looks like it will be a really cozy room.

Also, a lucite bedside table might come in handy, like the ones in the CB2 catalog. I saw in some recent mag (perhaps dec or jan cottage living?) that the woman who owns Pieces in Atlanta (Lee something) used a lucite table for a bedside table to make the space appear more open. It worked really well in a room that mixed all kinds of materials including driftwood, glossy paint, Hable construction fabric and lucite.

P.S. I'm having so much fun catching up on your blog today, I know this post is rather old and you are probably done with the room by now :)

Oh cool, I'm planning on going to the Design Sponge biz ladies meeting too!!

I'd say paint the whole thing white or something light. Add a rug, so it is soft and warm under foot for guests. Include a little dresser for friends to put clothes or storage for extra sheets and blankets. Maybe a nice cozy chair to sit on and read. And some fun patterned curtains!!!

lol

I am reading everyone's comments and it just goes to show how we all like totally different things for the space. I have yet had to take on a space like this, and to be honest I DON'T look forward to it. ;) I would paint it a light color if it was me. I suppose it depends on what color YOU love right now. It'll come to you. Don't listen to any of us to much. Good luck and just have fun with it.

p.s.
If it were me I would probably paint something funky on the ceiling or hang art. :P

i disagree with the above commenter. we had two rooms like this in our last house, and we did paint the sloped part of the wall the same color as the rest of the walls and it made it so much more cohesive. you didn't see a huge blank white spot when you walked in the room. that said, you would have to use a lighter color paint to keep it airy.

I have two rooms identical to yours in my house. For both, we installed pocket doors to conserve what space we could. It makes a huge difference to the rooms. BTW -I don't recommend painting the walls and ceiling the same color. These little sloped-ceiling rooms can get awfully cave-like.

Since it's small, you might consider going with darker colors on the walls and same on the ceiling (like a chocolate brown or something similar). Something that would actually make it feel like a cozy little den or nest. Accentuate the smallness to make it feel warm and toasty--someplace you'd like to snuggle up and go to sleep.
