Agree, agree, agree with all the above posters that the fabric looks more elegant and suitable than the flocked curtains. (Although… it’s your home and your taste is so spot on, that I’m sure that whichever you choose, it will look superb.)

I think he Marimekko fabric would look very fresh!

I also adore that little end table you got.

The Marimekko fabric is beautiful and the orange will pick up on the daybed beautifully. Have you seen this like to Crate & Barrel for Christmas Linens in the Lumimarja pattern.

The difference in the two appears to be, do you want (what looks like) light blocking drapery, or what appears to be relatively sheer. Either one would be good, depending on what else you are doing with that room. I can’t say the pattern excites me for a curtain, nor the West Elm example, but I also have a difficult time picking out curtains or fabric for curtains. It’s a decision of light, height, what it’s set against, what other fabrics compete for attention. You’re also making a guest room, not a hotel room, or a bedroom for yourself. It’s in your house, so it should express you somewhat, but it should also concede a little to the people in your life who might visit and stay in that room in a composite of tastes and comfortable surroundings.

it’s hard to tell with the fabric what the scale is. what’s the pattern repeat? is there any way you can do a mockup? i’m loving the marimekko fabric, but it’s hard to tell.

Love the Marimekko. I actually have curtains in that pattern in a silvery pink and grey color. They were last year’s holiday Crate and Barrel tablecloths that I bought on sale and had fashioned into curtains. I had to hit five different stores to find four tablecloths, but it wound up being far less expensive than if I had just bought the fabric outright. They actually have the same tablecloths this year in different colorways…

If you invest the money in the Marimekko, make sure you line the curtains so the pretty fabric doesn’t fade. It’s going to look great!

Oh, I just love love love that Marimekko fabric. It’s one that I go back to again and again myself, and I hope to come up with a project for it in my own home. I’m Marimekko obsessed at the moment…
