If you did ever want to do something neat to you chain link fence (which isn't too bad compared to mine) I'd recommend Boston Ivy. It can be pretty invasive once it gets going but it is easy to manage and can cover the whole fence top to bottom in about two years - making the fence a beautiful green barrier. We did it to our and love it. No problems so far!

you have done a fantastic job with your garden (and house). it's really inspiring. I don't have the energy or the money at the moment, but when I do, I'd like it to look like this!
thank you for sharing your house/garden journey, it really is lovely!

that makes such a difference!

hopefully you get a little rain soon (it's amazing how much difference rain makes to a garden - you can water it daily, but it's just not the same). Once your plants relax into the space they'll look even better!

Wow, I can't believe what a difference that new garden makes! It looks gorgeous. Have you mulched it in a darker mulch or is that just the dirt, because it goes so well with the chairs!

The patio progress has just been awesome.

Have you thought of a building a grape arbor at the north end of the patio? (or what I think is the north end - the side pointing toward the external mechanicals (A/C?) for the house - judging by the shadows?)

It wouldn't fill with grapevines this year, they would just get started, but the arbor itself would be a cool, sculptural thing, and would shield the patio view of those mechanical thingys. (I think they are A/C, but I live in Seattle. We don't do air conditioning as it would be a waste for all but three days a year.)

Phlox is awesome - once it gets going it growns into a beautiful ground cover and comes back every year!
