Red Wellies!

I went with the Hunter Festival Wellingtons!

I do have to admit, they are a bit snug on the calves. I still love them though.

Cute! I have a pair of boring ol’ black ones – not willing to be that adventurous when it comes to fashion for me feet.

I like the red with the black contrast!

    Cute Nicole!

I have been wanting the Huntress for awhile now, but the lines on the side are a great detail.

So cute! I join you in the land of larger calves… though I don’t think mine would even fit in your adorable wellies! :)

Love your boots! I have the same issue with snug calfs:( but they look really good on you. My husband bought me a pair of “Sperry Top-sider” rain boots last year. We live in Seattle so, I have had a chance to wear them 8+ months out of the year. Here is a link to a similar pair:

The snugness of the calves could become a problem, they could chafe! I’d return them and look further

: Leah ring, the dress is from Old Navy.
: Merideth, I think they’ll be fine with thin knee socks.
    : Becky, they’re comfy!

I’m also a girl blessed with shapely calves and have a hard time buying boots. Could you tell me what the circumference is at the top of your new Wellies?

    Great choice!

Cute. I still can’t plop down the money for Hunters though. It seems crazy that they are so pricey when it’s just rubber – I mean, tires for your car are less. Maybe I’m just not looking at this the right way :)

    Nicole,

Check out the link below… Target has some cutie booties for sale… A few are on clearance… YEAH!! Many w/an adjustable strap at the calves.

Birdie, they ARE pricey. I’m expecting them to last for a looooong time though, so I don’t mind paying more for good quality. Plus I figure I can wear them throughout the winter too with the fleece inserts that are available (or just warm fleece socks).

Gumbo, they’re 14.5″ around the top. Zappos claimed another inch, but I measured mine at 14.5″ (the same size as my calves).

And thanks, Hankie. I saw those too when I was trying to decide which boots to get.

They are very smart, as Hunter wellies always are.

Seventy-five pounds sterling (or its dollar equivalent) is still a lot to pay for some extra contrast stripes on standard red Hunter wellies (themselves not exactly cheap either), though.

Most of my own Hunter colours collection was made in Scotland, so I’d be interested to see how long they last you, since they are made in China these days, and I have heard about durability problems since production was moved over there from Scotland. The most common problem so far seems to be the sole treads splitting. You can get protective sprays that will clean the wellies and help keep out any UV degradation through bright sunlight (another killer of Hunters).

I would heartily recommend the Hunter fleece stockings also that you mentioned. They come in various colours, and can also be worn indoors instead of slippers or bedsocks.

I have the same boots and I promise, they are worth the $$$$. My husband and I raise sheep on a farm in western Massachusetts and we wear them for walking the fields. They also go fine in town. Love your blog. Glad I stumbled upon you via Mags Kandis.

They vertainly possess that fairy tale quality you would expect from rain boots, but one can’t help but wonder how you are going to tuck your pants in them?

I don’t think I’ve owned gumboots (wellies) since I was 6 years old… But I bought some yesterday!

I saw them at Floriade (the Canberra tulip festival) and fell in love with them, but had to think about it. I think the fact that you bought some recently helped me to make my mind up.
