Remote Control

I bought a remote controlfor my camera so that I could take self-portraits. Or as Brandon put it, I’ve invested $30 in the ongoing self-absorption project that is my narcissism.

Ahhhh, a most eggcellent choice of location for your photo!

(Now… which hand was holding the remote? My vote is for the left, but it could lead either way.)

I used to try to get shots like this with the timer on my camera, but I ended up with a lot of shots of my derriere. This thing seems to give you a bit more control, and therefore some added insurance that you can get the really good pics.

  • ooh I need one of those for my Flickr Self portrait group…

  • well of course two others noticed the Sex and The City thing. My boyfriend just brought home the movie and the first thing I thought of when you see carrie in the egg chair in mexico was that I had to get on and let you know…oh well, its still cool.

  • Great photo! The chair looks so cozy. Perfect to curl up in with a magazine, coffee, and a pastry. Makes me kind of sad too, since I’m starting to realize cold Chicago weather is just around the corner. I’m not ready to say goodbye to colorful summer days!

  • CUTE PHOTO! You look fab in yellow & love the egg chair!!

  • You are just too cute!

  • Dawn Marie

Love the chair. You look fab. Love the dresses, as always!

  • I was just about to post the same thing as nikkirose. I watched SATC this weekend and thought of you when Carrie was in the egg chair. I do miss some of your house posting as well, but we all go in cycles with these blogs of ours.

Yesterday morning I was watching my new Sex & The City dvd while sipping coffee and hoping to find the motivation to brave a weekend trip to IKEA. And what did I spot? Carrie in Mexico in an egg chair! I didn’t notice it the first time I saw the movie. But yesterday, I thought of your lovely garden with its own egg-shaped caccoon. :)

  • i love that lil thing..gotta find one for my brand of camera..

and you look extra cute and giddy sittin in your egg chair!

You have a successful business, a gorgeous home and are humble and kind- it’s not being narcissistic, it’s being proud of your life!

  • That is quite a unique backyard chair! It looks very comfortable and I would love one of my own…where did you get that?

Coming back to apologize for my unnecessary and bitchy comment. I’ve gotten lots of great ideas from your blog, and the fact that it no longer meets my needs is my problem, not yours.
    Keep on keepin’ on!

  • That is the cutest little picture. And gosh, some people are hard to please! I’m loving some of the new features you’ve introduced!

  • wow, wow. I never ever thought your blog had to be about one particular subject.
See you never, Unsubscribing. Good freak, some people weird me out.

Sorry ‘unsubscribing’. I put a lot of time and energy into Making it Lovely, but I suppose it isn’t your cup of tea anymore.

Everyone else, thank you sincerely for the sweet comments. You make my day a little nicer.

Remember when this blog used to be about your house? I miss that.

  • LOVE your shoes.

  • I’m gonna have to check this out. I think it’s a great idea vs. hitting the timer button and frantically running to get into the photo!

  • Oooh, I LOVE narcissism! I need to get me one of those.

  • Nice shot.
I have one too, so you are not the only one!

  • Awww, I like the self-portrait!

  • Very cute :)

  • Cute picture! And I was wondering if you had a remote control, mainly because if I asked the Mister to take a picture of me like that he would be on the floor laughing and I would be flipping him a delicate bird.

I’m so glad to see a photo of someone sitting in the egg chair. I love that chair so much, but it’s hard to get a good idea of the size of it without an actual human sitting on it for scale.

    I -love- your dress!

  • pookie
