Style: October ’08

I tried on the Ponte Pleated Dress from Target the other day and it is so flattering, I knew right away that I’d include it in the October style post. And of course I paired it with my headband from Love, Lulu Mae (I think they take custom requests if you’d like a similar style).

The olive green Frye shoes from Urban Outfitters look perfect for fall, and I’d pair them up with some cute green tights. The bag from J.Crew is beautiful, but I’m not sure what they mean when they say “it only looks expensive”… it’s $500. That’s definitely going to remain a wish list item.

Do give the dress a try though (it’s only $25), especially if you’re on the curvy side. Very becoming.

October is kind of chilly where I am. What would you pick to where over it, if needed?

I don’t know if I would’ve put the olive and peacock greens with the gray dress, but I love it after seeing it here. Those shoes are fantastic and totally scream “fall is here”!

I can definitely see how that dress could look good on curvy gals, however as it is on that model, it looks kind of….”blah”. (Sorry) Fortunately for me, I’m kinda curvy, and $25? Totally up my alley!!! I’m heading to target as soon as I have some spare time! Thanks.

I’m going to give the dress a try. I just ordered three dresses from Target and went 0 for 2 :-( Too big, too small, too blah. I can never find the cute dresses in the store (I’m always a day late and a dollar short :-) to try on so I’m left with online shopping guess work.

And a $500 bag? Um, that’s expensive, J. Crew folks.

SO happy I found it, but not only that it fits great! Especially for the pear haped bods like me. I bought it in black, almost bought the gray too, may just have to go back & get that one too. Thanks again!

OK, so I ended up buying the dress in gray and black – so flattering. And quarterlife girl, you’re right that it doesn’t look so great on the model. I think it’s because she’s not really filling it out.

Daisy Janie, this would be really cute over the dress: tie-front cardigan.

    Luuvepotion, the font is Glengary.

Could you do more of these for us that don’t know how to make it lovely? I really love your style, but I am hopeless at putting together outfits. This really helps! Thanks for what you do.

Oh I’m so getting that dress! Instead of the olive accents, I’m going to do plums/purples to go with my new plum-flower headband from Anthro. I have shoes similar to the frye’s in black that will be perfect!

I love these “style” posts. Great inspiration!
