I’m totally heartbroken.
=( i just died a little inside
:( I’m gonna go cry now…just as I did with Blueprint…around this time last year! :(
Ah! Me too! When Blueprint closed, my only consolation was “At least I still have Domino.”
:(
Thank god I saved all those issues!
WHAT!!!!!!!! I hadn’t heard that! I had Blueprint too, and was sad to see it go, now Domino?! that sucks.
Please, say it isn’t so-I hadn’t heard! I am so disappointed!!!! That was my favorite magazine-at least I saved all my issues.
ugh, its so depressing, is it not!?
and I was beginning to feel guilty keeping my 50+ issues..
le sigh..
I will pay you a small fortune for your Domino collection! I’ve only started collecting recently and eBay has proven to be a terrible source for Domino past issues.
I can’t sell them — I love them too much!
M, i have two of most issues. email me, we can talk.
I saw this coming as Domino was sending out lots of surveys, I suppose to gage where the magazine should go next, and that was my first clue. What will happen? They will probably extend our issues to another magazine.
Sad to see it go, as well. I’ve been with them since day one but I have not kept the issues. I pass them along to my mom to read and share with her friends.
Lucky is still doing strong *knock on wood* but Cargo came and went and now Domino, which lasted longer than I thought and I’m glad for that. Who knows about Cookie as I am childless.
Totally devastated. Do you think that they’ll maintain their online presence?
Domino and Cottage Living in the same month? So.very.very.sad. Do you know if Country Living is also folding? I thought I read they are, but they just sent me an invoice. :-(
I haven’t heard anything about Country Living. I have heard that the Domino website will be gone too though, and possibly quite soon.
Everyone is mentioning this! We’re all heartbroken!!
their website is great! I am always going there for inspiration!
ugh, ugh, ugh!
Oh gosh, I am insanely jealous of your amazing collection. Now I’m really kicking myself for everytime I passed their issues on news stands without buying.
—sigh—
i just ordered a subscription recently, and haven’t even begun to get them yet. i wonder what will become of my order.
i’m really not worried about the $10—but rather about losing a good magazine.
This is so sad!
UGH. I have every issue and my blueprints too. I’m so sad to see it go. Now I only get one magazine delivered. Poo!!
This is sooo sad, love that mag…seems to be the unfortunate trend with print these days…
What! The Domino Site gone too?! The magazine was bad enough, but this is just… I don’t even have the words! What about my deco file?! This can’t be happening…
ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME! This is the worst week ever! My mom just bought a subscription! I lost my cat on Sunday and now this…grrr!
It’s depressing to think that a small (and cheap!) little pleasure is being taken away. *sigh* Anyone have any ideas for a similar magazine out there?
damn the recession. damn it all to hell. I collect Real Living Magazines. I’ve got about 4 years worth. I liked blueprint but they didn’t sell it on the shelves here, I had to make do with online.
Your shelf looks so familiar.. I’ve got my Blueprints and Dominos all lined up with many folded corners and paper scraps poking out.
Sad day.
It really is too bad. When House and Garden folded, they replaced that subscription with Domino. Now what will they replace our Domino subscription with?!
Two great magazines – so sad to see them go. I am not a huge magazine person to begin with – but these two were exceptions. Thank goodness for blogs like yours to keep my creative juices flowing!
I can’t believe it! I just picked up my February issue yesterday! First Blueprint, then Mary Engelbreit Home Companion and now Domino!
I’m devastated!
PS I’m a longtime lurker, first time commenting, Love Love Love your blog!
That IS a disappointment. However, I will use this as weight in the argument (with my wife) to keep my back issues of Interior Living, Dwell, and Architectural Digest. She thinks I’m insane to keep stacks of old magazines (and she’s an architect!).
I can’t believe this! First Blueprint now this??!! I can’t take much more of this! What’s next on the chopping block? Bust? VenusZine? I guess I should be content with cosmo and Veranda!!! Seriously Nicole, you should start your own magazine and bring some light at the end of this tunnel.
This really is a bummer — Blueprint . . . ah, what memories!
Wahhhhhhhhhh! And as a magazine publisher, this news hurts me for two reasons. Phfffffffffft.
I know! I LOVED Domino! Blueprint too. This is a sad day for the magazine business :(
What sad a horrible news. I did not know this.
This is insanity! I was so thrilled when those two mags came on the scene because the US was due for some really great interior/style design mags. I had a subscription to BOTH & now all I have are Elle Decoration & Living, Etc. but they’re both out of the UK so I have to buy them in the store. (Don’t even get me started on Elle Decor, which, in my opinion, is quite sub-par compared to the rest.) We have a subscription to Dwell but, although it’s great in it’s own right, it’s no Domino or Blueprint.
I am truly devastated.
I’m going to begin mourning right this minute!! Incredibly heartbreaking…
My boyfriend never understands why it is that I must keep every Domino issue I currently own (about 25), but now I am so happy that I have them. I thought the latest issue was lacking a bit and now I understand why.
Very sad day!
NO! I hadn’t heard, and now I’m heartbroken.
Whyyyyyy God? Whhhhyyyyyy?
Couldn’t they at least ween us off by continuing to post the website? And, what’s going to happen to My Deco file?! Sooo distressing.
That makes me so mad. I loved Blueprint, too. Domino was either fabulous (the J.Crew creative director issue, for example) or so-so, but even the so-so was better than most other magazines. I also really liked Cottage Living. So sad!
oh man! your shelf looks very similar to mine, I think I need a support group for my “no longer published” magazine collection :( Cottage Living just sent me a letter saying that what was left of my subscription is now Country Living, any ideas what subscribers will get instead? When Jane went under I got glamour, talk about awkward!!! :(
i am SO sad! i am furiously downloading stuff from the site now!
Hi there … just found your blog, and I just wanted to say I think it’s really great … oh and I totally loved Blueprint and Domino, too — I was crushed when I heard the news. If Lucky folds, I think I might have a stroke. Anyway, looking forward to reading!
I heard rumors about this, and went ahead and paid for my three year subscription anyway!!! Now what am I supposed to do? man….
I’m thouroughly heart broken over this. We just got our new house. Where am I going to look for inspirations?
UGH! First, Cottage Living, my all-time favorite, then Home Companion, plus Blueprint, and back in the day, Martha Stewart Kids (which I luckily have every issue of)…Where will it end?! And I am an obsessed, extremely avid reader of such magazines; they are on many a shelf and in plenty of baskets throughout our house, and I refer to them time and time again. What a bummer.
I should have seen this coming! My subscriptions are dying off faster than the dinosaurs!
Hopefully something will come along to fill the void and maybe it will be as cool as Domino was when it first started. It lost its way a bit imo. Still, I will be disappointed not to see it in my mailbox. We just lost a pretty fantastic Canadian mag (Wish magazine) too. All we have left are Canadian House & Home, Style at Home and Canadian Home and Country magazine. Check them out.
Seriously, this is such a bummer.
