Eleanor’s a very snuggly baby. It’s really sweet, but I’ve not accomplished much lately other than perfecting the art of being a human pillow and milk supplier.

Me and Eleanor

Hopefully soon we’ll find our rhythm. In the meantime, I’ve been enjoying this time with her.

I’ve been checking in here too… I’ve read each and every comment on my last post announcing Eleanor. It’s amazing to hear from so many people all over the world! Thank you.

Belated congratulations!!!! She is gorgeous and perfect, and you have fallen in love. The bad news is I don’t really think you can expect to get too much done for the next few weeks (or in my case it was nearly 18-24 months – I just couldn’t tear myself away from my little bundle). These gorgeous little creatures that are given to us are huge distractions, and rightly so. Enjoy your time with your precious girl, she will grow fast…..and whatever you do don’t feel guilty about spending time with (whether it is as a pillow or diary!) Enjoy!!

Don’t worry — you will get your groove back! However, it took me about 12 months after each child!

    Snuggly babies are the best!
The only way I got things done when my son was a newborn was if (1) family or friends came over and snuggled with him, or (2) wore him in a baby carrier like the Moby Wrap.

What a sweet picture. I read a book called Baby Wise (link below) and it really helped me and my little one get into a great routine. By 8 weeks he was sleeping through the night.

However you approach it enjoy this time and enjoy the rest you can get in-between. She is beautiful and you look great!

Enjoy this time with Eleanor and take the opportunity to rest when you can. Motherhood is 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and there is nothing better than snuggling with your wee one. Happy first Mother’s Day to you.

    Adorable.

As a mother of two, I might mention that the first few weeks, are rough. . .and over before you know it. My youngest is just about to crawl and I feel like I just brought her home from the hospital!!

Sleep and shower when you can, and remember that she will never go back to being this small, so ingrain it in your mind by gazing at her often.

I second Meta’s comment, if only to reassure you if you are finding anything difficult, although of course, I hope you aren’t. The time does fly, and no, you are pretty much unable to do much else, which is fine. That said, try to get out as much as you can, even in the yard, just because summer is on its way and if it’s really hot, you may not take advantage later.
