Style

Style: June ’09

I packed away all of my maternity clothes today (yay!). I was tired of wearing them, even though my one-month postpartum body still looks a bit pregnant. Now I need to focus on clothes that fit my slightly more rotund figure, are easy to take care of, and work for nursing. I suppose it’s time to reevaluate my wardrobe a bit.

I actually just bought this printed cami the other day. While it looks nothing like it does on the model when it’s on me, I actually think it looks better in real life. I wear mine tucked in and under a white cardigan with a simple black skirt.

To complete the outfit, I’d add this brown bag (which looks more expensive than it is), nude flats, and a charming initial necklace. Easy and cute!

Very cute! NY & Co. was so helpful for my postpartum body! I absolutely refused to wear maternity clothes after giving birth (for my own happiness), and that store was the best for finding clothes that worked for me!

Great post-pregnancy outfit, Nicole! It’s stylish but still works with baby spitup and nursing. Love it!

Oh i feel you on this one girl! I just finished nursing for 10 months and no matter what I wore, I had my motherhood maternity stretchy camisole underneath, it was like my security blanket. They are one size fits all, i highly recommend. love your style, thanks!

My best nursing advice is a long spaghetti tank under any top so you can lift the top shirt to nurse with minimal exposure. Makes the world of nursing anywhere a reality!!

Congrats & she’s lovely! Since I’m delurking ~ I have a daughter named Winsome so your shop ad makes me smile!

Oh Nicole! This is my very favorite recurring MIL blog segment (which is strange because I am WAY more of a home design person than a fashion person). I had a little disposable income that I needed to use on some new clothes… and darn if I didn’t just buy nearly everything here on your board (except the shoes & shirt- too loose for my style, and I am not a flats person).

Anyways, I think these stores should give you some type of kickback for the business you bring them (like mine). :)

Perfect New Mommy look! I loved tops like that when I was nursing. I know a lot of people like button-downs for that, but I’m not really a button-down girl and when I did try it I felt WAY more exposed with all those buttons undone than when I just lifted up my top.

i just got those flats! they totally need to be broken in AND i’m wondering if after they will even be comfy. ??? i was really excited about them too. they are also more peach than tan! i haven’t braved wearing them yet (my foot isn’t normally considered wide either, but it’s just below my toes, at the ball of my foot that is super tight)…i guess i’ll say i’m undecided about them until then, or try to resell them to someone with a smaller foot.

I also have the brown bag from Urban Outfitters and I LOVE it. So roomy and holds all my stuff without being bulky. Worth every penny.

ny & co. is the best place to shop for non-maternity, post-baby clothes! cute and fairly trendy, forgiving fabrics and they always have good sales so you don’t feel bad about buying “transitional” sizes.

    Soooo jealous!

I still can’t fit into any of my old clothes. And I’m in total denial about needing to buy things in a new size, lol.

Have you tried Bravado nursing tanks? They are worth it! Very comfy and easy to take the straps on and off (which I do one handed while holding baby in the other).
