I am in love with this broadway fuschia dress. Gorgeous color, lovely shape, and darling button details. Actually I’d like that dress, and maybe about a dozen more from Shabby Apple — there are so many good ones there!

I have a thing for gold shoes and bracelets covered in baubles. And I’d carry a pretty bag like this truffle bag in lilac with a surprise inside… a little copper piggy!

I like Shabby Apple, too. Are you LDS by chance?

    • Making it Lovely September 11, 2009 at 7:29 pm #

No, why is Shabby Apple an LDS company?

    • AJ September 12, 2009 at 6:30 pm #

Well they don’t advertise as being an LDS company but Shabby Apple is associated with UNITUS, a LDS financial services company, and their headquarters are in Salt Lake City Utah. I appreciate that they are offering styles that help women look fab while still allowing them to follow Mormon principles of being covered up.

I came across the Shabby Apple website about a month ago and was in instant love. I seriously wanted just about every dress they have! They’re perfect!
    Lovely style layout!

I love LOVE this dress. I love that it’s a bright poppy color, but is a bit longer (with my long torso I look for length without having to order tall, cause those are generally long in the wrong way). And the shoes! Seriously, I may have to do a tutorial in how to do those yourself in different colors.

    • Rebekah McKinney September 18, 2009 at 10:48 am #

I’m really glad to hear that this is what you like about the dress! I myself am 5’8″ (which isn’t super tall but it’s enough to mean shirts are too short) and so when I was making the pattern tried really hard to keep all body shapes in mind.

Ya know as the designer of the dress, reading all these comments about loving the dress is going to give me a big head once I stop blushing from delight.

    I love that dress!

  7. Joelle September 11, 2009 at 9:43 pm #

Love the style choices. However, I really like them when I can wear the outfits and breastfeed.

    • Making it Lovely September 12, 2009 at 7:10 am #

I know, me too. I think it would be possible in that dress by undoing the top two buttons without being overexposed.

    • Rebekah McKinney September 18, 2009 at 10:51 am #

HAHA! I didn’t even think about breast feeding when I made this dress but that’s totally true *happy dance*

All 6 of those buttons are fully functional, I’m obsessed with buttons being functional and bows/ties actually working. It’s so good that my OCD tendencies work out for nursing mothers.

Now I’m going to keep that in mind for future lines too, I’ll have to like include a nursing friendly option in every line!

That dress is SO cute. I’m totally into the jewel tones this fall – teal (this is my number 1 fave), purples, blues, emeralds. Mmmm.

I absolutely love all of the dresses in that store! I’m close to ordering at least four of them right now.

Where else do you shop for dresses?

  18. J.H. September 12, 2009 at 8:28 am #

I usually bought dresses like that from Shabby Apple because my mom like their classic but trendy designs. I even recommend Shabby Apple to some friends who are looking for decent dresses.

This is the cutest outfit! Love the dress, love the shoes, love the bag!

  21. AJ September 12, 2009 at 6:11 pm #

I like a lot of their dresses– so many cute details, but I do question the fitting process the company uses. Many of the dresses looked ill fitted even on the models! I work as a fit specialist for a commercial clothing company and If this company uses “stacking doll” sizing, the plus sizes will fit horribly. Which makes me also question why the plus sizes aren’t presented on plus sized models. Besides wondering about the fit, how can I envision my size 18 body in a dress that’s shown on a size 4-6?

    • Rebekah McKinney September 18, 2009 at 10:43 am #

I definitely understand your concern, the dress that looks the best from the ‘Manhattan line’ by Shabby Apple (my line) is the Fifth Ave (Though the Upper East side looks pretty hot on me too.) I totally would love in the future to feature them on a plus size model that’s a great suggestion.

I myself am a size 20, which is the one and only reason I insisted on the dresses going up to plus sizes. I have a heavier bottom half than top half, and the Fifth Ave really slims you with that pencil skirt silhouette.

Oh BTW I’ve been quietly trolling your site for awhile Mrs. Balch and I must say your baby is beautiful, your home is sublime and your style is truly fabulous! :)

Shabby Apply has the cutest dresses — they definitely seem very you! Also wondering…has anyone ordered anything from them? How’s the quality/fit?

I had been eyeing the mini truffle in lilac for too long–somebody bought it! I thought of getting the truffle but it seems big for a handbag–even for a mother of twins!

I love the cut of the dress and the color is juicy! I think the dress will sit nicely on my mommy hips. lol! Thanks for sharing!

Oh look! My dress. When Shabby Apple sent me a link to your blog as featuring one of my designs I was so excited to see it paired with adorableness personified! Seriously so cute what you’ve used to make the dress come to life.

Honestly this fuchsia pocket dress is one of my favorites of all time, and the pattern took me hours of pre-thinking just to get it to do that with the pockets, I’m so glad to hear you like it.

The dress is gorgeous. And the shoes is perfect for it.

  36. Lakshmi September 28, 2009 at 10:43 am #

I love the piggy clutch! I just got these shoes: http://www.shoes.com/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?p=EC1184515&pg=5108784&icid=gnd

And I really want to put together an outfit with a lot of spunk that can be worn in cold weather around these shoes plus a beige trench coat. Any ideas, Making it Lovely readers?

By the way, is there a forum somewhere on the web, where I can do just this: post an item that I just bought and ask for advice in putting together an outfit around it?
