Windermere Curtains in the Library

Yep, still looking for the perfect curtains in there. I’ve ordered Anthropologie’s Windermere curtains (on sale), and I have high hopes for them. I did a little mockup and everything.

I have been following your blog for about a year (although never posted a comment before)and I am always amazed by your style Nicole… It has even inspired some project in my home but I don’t know about this curtains, I think I don’t love them as I love the rest of your beautiful home, sorry.

oohh! i really like those. the scale of the pattern seems just right for this location.

    nice selection!

*How* did you grab a swatch and put it into your waved curtains? I guess I’m only used to dropping swatches that are repeats but flat into flat objects… (I’m a bedding designer)

One of the other product photos had the folds in it. I grabbed that, skewed it to match the perspective in the room, and adjusted the layer’s opacity.

Love it! I do think those curtains would be perfect in that space! Vastly different from what you had originally, but it definitely suits it.

wow, this is a really hard window to dress! every idea you’ve posted would definitely work… but you’ll know it when you’ve found THE ONES :O)

I think they look great. I wonder why they are called Windermere though? If you haven’t heard of Windermere, it’s one of the most beautiful places in England.

These are okay, but I love your sense of colour, and these are too plain for my tastes… (I adooooore anthropologie since you put me on to it)

When I was researching oilcloths for recovering my dining room chairs, I found an amazing fabric designer in the UK, but it’s a bit pricey, so I never got anything. However, She does stuff that’s not just oilcloth, and the fabric she’s made seems right up your alley. I think the mustards in her colour schemes would suit your room and seem more you (quirky and beautiful) than the antrho. curtains. Cheers.

so my computer crashed before you had the baby, how long ago was that now, and I could not remember the name of your blog and I have thought of it many times since I lost your address. here you are and I am not taking any chance, you now being followed. so happy to find you again.

They look great but maybe add a yellow tieback or embellishment of some kind to add a color (I am so not a curtain person – I don’t know what that stuff is called). Or toss in a pillow? I dunno just throwing ideas out. The shape in the pattern is very much your style so I can see why you where drawn to them.

    • Making it Lovely October 10, 2009 at 10:11 pm #

I was thinking of adding mustard yellow pompoms along the side and maybe on a tie-back, but I’m waiting to see how the curtains look first. ;)

Nicole, I probably trust and admire your style more than anyone’s on the planet (huge fan), but I’m with those who are having some doubts about these particular curtains. There’s something about the way the pattern and color is interacting with the other colors in the room that just isn’t singing to me. Maybe the real deal will work a bit better. But if you like ‘em, it is your (fabulous) casa after all!

    • Making it Lovely October 10, 2009 at 10:12 pm #

I don’t think the color is quite perfect in the mockup, but the lighting on the product picture and the lighting in the room is so different… I’m hoping all of the colors will work in the real space.

Oh, yes, yes, yes! I think you’ve finally found them!

Ooo, I like! I love the bold pattern, and the warm colour looks great with the yellow paint :)

    Very pretty!

These are beautiful curtains- but- I don’t think they are right for this space. They make the space look pretty in a very traditional way (kind of boring). I really like the floral curtains that you had in your studio and then tried in the library. They are vibrant and fun. Seems more your style.

The mood of this room can change so much just by swapping out the curtains. I think these look great in the mockup especially for the fall. The scale of the pattern looks perfect, too!

I like the darker fabric… helps ground the room with all the pink and white. I think you found the one!

  30. Chelsea October 13, 2009 at 11:26 am #

Good choice! I think it really adds something extra to the room and it’s a fun color.

I say keep looking, those aren’t bad though. I saw this while surfing and thought of your curtain dilemma.
