Jubilee Furniture

I went out to Jubilee Furniture Co. this weekend to pick up a black swivel chair that I saw on BarryBlog. His photos are far better than mine, but I did snap a few shots of things that caught my eye. There were so many pieces that just needed a quick sprucing up with a coat of paint or some new fabric, and the prices are really reasonable.

The chair was intended for Brandon’s office but now that I have it here, it seems a little too short. It’s comfortable though, and it doesn’t make the loud CREAK that his current chair does whenever anyone sits down in it.

Oh, and I just have to share my favorite little seating area at Jubilee: the kids’ conference table. I don’t think it’s for sale. I think it’s there so that the kids that visit can have a place to sit and color. :)

(Thank you to Brandon and Ashley for obliging me in this ridiculous photo.)

MiY 3c: A More Masculine Apartment

Making it Yours (MiY) explores ways to use stylish investment pieces for the home while keeping up with changing lives and changing tastes. In this third edition, I’m focusing on the ever popular Madeline Weinrib Zig Zag Rug. It started out in the home of a young woman who had just splurged on the rug (it was the most expensive thing in her apartment!), and it is making its way with her through several changes of residence. We first saw it in the living/dining area of her girly apartment, and then it moved to the bedroom.

Now our fictional apartment dweller has moved in with her sweetie, and they would like a less feminine look for their apartment. The couch has stayed, but the pink chair is gone and has been replaced by the dark gray scan lounge chair. A pair of angular wooden side tables pick up on the wood legs of the chair and couch, and a self-referential news rack corrals newspapers and magazines in the room. A few wiry forms like the floor lamp and wire spheres keep things light, while a whale print keeps things heavy (ba dum bum). The wall color is one of my new favorites, Down Pipe (as seen in AB Chao’s gorgeous bedroom).

We’ll see the rug next in another version of the living room before ending up in its fifth and final space.
