Martha Stewart Paint Colors

I was informed today by Jules that the new line of Martha Stewart paint colors is now at The Home Depot. People, do you realize how excited about paint swatches as I get?

Martha Stewart Paint Colors

There is no fan deck available for purchase, so getting the full line requires standing there in the paint isle and grabbing one of each color. It’s a little ridiculous, really.

Of course, it’s not the first time I’ve done such a thing for Ms. Martha. I still have the entire line of discontinued Valspar colors too.

The new line is completely different from the old. I’m not a fan of the pinks (and you know how I love pink) nor the purples, but the blues, greens, and neutrals are beautiful.

This is what my office looks like all the time!!! Swatches everywhere!!! You should call Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams and get teh designer set boxes!!! That are fabulous!!

  2. deanna March 3, 2010 at 2:45 pm #

My most favorite place in all of hardware-store-world!
This is very exciting news, I think it’s time for a trip to the depot.

Ha! Good for you for standing there and grabbing them all! Do they mind?

    • Making it Lovely March 3, 2010 at 2:50 pm #

Brandon did it for me this time (he’s awesome), but I remember getting some strange looks when I did it at Lowe’s for her Valspar line!

  4. Jamie March 3, 2010 at 2:51 pm #

But they got rid of the Ralph Lauren line to make room for Martha! Boo.

    • Lynn March 20, 2010 at 5:25 pm #

I too loves the Ralph Lauren suede. But Martha has textures coming out in the fall.

  5. Alyssa March 3, 2010 at 2:53 pm #

Awesome. I am in the mood for some aqua walls, so the timing is perfect.

    • Jennie March 13, 2010 at 12:14 pm #

Benjamin Moore makes a lovely aqua called Jamaican Aqua. We have it in our sons room, complemented with a lot of greens and oranges! Fun.

  6. colleen March 3, 2010 at 2:58 pm #

I love her colors, too. My kitchen is one of her older colors – Sea of Grass.

My kids each get to pick 3 colors every time we go to Home Depot (a short-lived distraction). And we get dirty looks for that…I can’t imagine taking one of each. I’m too much of a wimp!

  7. Kim @ Yellow Brick Home March 3, 2010 at 3:11 pm #

Wow, I can’t believe you are able to take one of each swatch! Do the employees stare you down?

But now that I know someone else does it, maybe I’ll make like a bandit and try the same thing. Hmmm. We just have to make sure to not the same Home Depot in Chicagoland. Then we may get in trouble.

I am a Home Depot Paint Associate and in my store we do not have a problem with customers taking home as many paint chips as they like, I have even mentioned at times, they can take them all home, if that is what it takes to help with their paint choices. Besides, the paint reps keep the chips fully stocked.

  8. Lisa March 3, 2010 at 3:16 pm #

Ha! I recently heard that they had discontinued (and thus marked down) Ralph Lauren paint, so I went to Home Depot last night hoping to score some deals. Alas, it was already gone, but I took some of the Martha swatches to test out for my new living room. I’m very pleased to report that after 5 long months of indecision, I think I may have finally settled on the right color – Whetstone Gray. Martha to the rescue!

  9. Amanda March 3, 2010 at 3:16 pm #

How do you keep your swatches organized?

  10. April March 3, 2010 at 3:26 pm #

haha I’m obsessed with paint swatches too! But I’ve never taken one of every color!! So.. I think I’m gonna go to Lowe’s now….

  11. Allison March 3, 2010 at 3:34 pm #

I’m hoping her paint quality is better here than when they carried it at Sears. Every color ended up needing 4 coats, and I used primer! I ended up having them match her colors (because they are wonderful) and mix it in a different brand of paint.

    • Jennie March 13, 2010 at 12:17 pm #

Not sure. My husband hates using paints purchased from Home Depot. He complains of the quality…..

    • Lynn March 20, 2010 at 5:27 pm #

Yep, I remember my husband complaining that her paint dripped all over his head while painting the ceiling!

  12. Cari March 3, 2010 at 3:49 pm #

They do have a Martha Stewart Living complete paint palette brochure that I scored when I was at HD this week. It has all the paint color ships in it, but they are only about 1″ x 1 1/2″.
I also have to say that some of my favorite colors from the former lines at Sherwin Williams and Valspar are gone.. like Aracuna, Bone China and Kraft.

  13. Caitlin March 3, 2010 at 3:51 pm #

You don’t mess around when you say you love the paint swatches! Do you hole punch them and keep one of those great 3×5 card ring dealies?

  14. Meg March 3, 2010 at 3:57 pm #

Laughing because I did this two days ago and my three year old son kept asking me if I was done yet and why I needed so many. I was feeling pretty sheepish, but I wanted them! I actually didn’t grab any of the pinks and purples because I didn’t like them either. Eventually, I’ll go in and get them.

  15. Your Mother March 3, 2010 at 4:22 pm #

Can you ask Brandon if he’ll pick them up for me too? Just kidding!! Although you should at least ask him, it would be funny…

  16. Live a Colorful Life March 3, 2010 at 4:30 pm #

Paint swatches are so fun. sometimes I turn them into modern wall art by arranging them, artistically of course, and elevating some of them with a little piece of foam for a 3-D look, in a shadow box frame and hanging it on the wall. Valspar paint is my all-time favorite as far as quality. Covers in one coat. LOVE.IT. But collecting ANY brand of swatches is fun. Trip to Lowe’s is in my future…

  17. Mini March 3, 2010 at 5:22 pm #

What do you DO with them though? Seems a waste!

  18. Hilary March 3, 2010 at 5:41 pm #

I’m thrilled to hear that the blues are good. I’m looking for the perfect ice blue to go in my kitchen. I’ve had no luck with my old standbys, Ben Moore and Sherwin-Williams.

  19. puck March 3, 2010 at 6:13 pm #

I have done that for her Valspar line, as well as the Seasside Retreat and Laura Ashley ones. And Ralph Lauren. I use a hole puncher and put them in sets on one of those big circle key ring deals. It makes it so easy to read colors in a room when you have all the swathes with you.

Bummer about the pinks though. I was looking forward to them. But her blues are always so great.

Makes me happy I have the Valspar line because the pinks were so pretty.

Oh my goodness…..I guess I’m not the only one who hoards paint chips!! More than one friend has come to my supply box to get the right color! Got chips…ya’ I do! ~Chris Ann

SO wishing we had a Home Depot here… I would snatch each of those little babies up for use in crafts.

    Hey Nicole,
I was lucky enough to snag a MS complete paint palette booklet. Our Home Depot just got her line in stock 2 days before we were purchasing paint for our soon-to-be nursery. I was going to choose Benjamin Moore Natura line but at $52 per gallon, it was a no-brainer when I saw Martha’s paint for $27.97! We’re painting this weekend if it doesn’t rain.

I love it! I was just in Lowe’s trying to get another gallon of my favorite Martha color and I was told that it was discontinued. No more Martha. I was sad. Not because I’m a Martha worshipper, but girlfriend does know how to pick colors and her colors (especially the light blue range) blow away Ben Moore’s line. I posted about that a while ago on my blog. Thank you for letting us know that Martha is back at Lowes. This is, indeed, happy news!

  26. diywithadd March 3, 2010 at 9:20 pm #

Sorry, revision, (I couldn’t read clearly in my excitement) she’s now at Home Depot. Even more convenient.

  27. AnNicole@OurSuburbanCottage March 3, 2010 at 9:32 pm #

Ooh, I’ve been waiting for them to arrive. Off to check them out tomorrow. Thanks!

  28. Jess March 3, 2010 at 9:41 pm #

My whole house is painted with her valspar colors. My living room is garden clog green, my kitchen is farmhouse blue, and most of the upstairs is hemp rope. I always thought it would be fun to be the person who comes up with names for paint colors. I’ll have to take a trip to Home Depot!

  29. Jenna March 3, 2010 at 10:07 pm #

We’ve had Martha’s paint in our Home Depot for a few weeks now and I had the lovely privilege of purchasing the first gallon of paint from our store the first day it was out. Woo hoo! I used “Bone Folder” and love, love, love it!

  30. Laura March 3, 2010 at 10:40 pm #

I still have every color from her Kmart and SW lines. If I knew she was leaving Lowes I would have snagged each card thier too. I did my hall, living and dining rooms in her colors. I loved her SW line. Never used her line of paint bc I have a favorite brand. It just so happens we are ready to paint again (stage to sell) and I’m in need of warm neutrals! BM Shaker Beige and Lenox Tan are not cutting it for me so I now have some hope with MS!!!
Ladies, the cards are free, so what if someone looks at you. Free is free.

Hi, do you think you can help me with a martha stewart paint formula? I’m looking for an avocado type green with the word VERDE. It’s yellowish green. The rep at Lowes said she can mix the formula if I had the paint code from the back of the card. Please email me at isabelita8611@yahoo.com.
      Thank in advance. Isabel

  31. nue March 3, 2010 at 11:01 pm #

she’s also got a new green cleaning line at home depot as well. i really like the laundry detergent and fabric softener.

  32. Betsy March 4, 2010 at 7:16 am #

I was just in HD yesterday buying paint and there was no Martha! I’m excited about this, though- just bought my first house and I’m dizzy from choosing new paint colors!

  33. gesikah March 4, 2010 at 10:27 am #

I am only partially embarrassed to say that I still have all the paint swatches from her Sherwin-Williams line. Well, not ALL of them, but I have all of them that they had when I went in.

My living room is currently Stoneware from that line and I am considering Graph Paper(kitchen), Mica (bedroom), and Scrim (bathrooms).

Although, now I might have to check out the new colors to make sure I don’t like any of them better. ;)

  34. Karrie March 4, 2010 at 10:31 am #

While I haven’t gone to a store and picked up a swatch in every color, I did pick up every shade of white at Home Depot in all the brands they carry. It was a lot of paint swatches! And I didn’t get any weird looks or stare downs at all (although, I did ask the associate what was their most popular color for trim and his response was “white”, haha!).

  35. Kenn March 4, 2010 at 6:35 pm #

some of the Home Depot staff looked at me kind of crazy when I was standing there taking one card of each color. I have all the swatches from the early days at Fine Paints of Europe, Kmart, Sherwin Williams, and Lowe’s. This collection seems to be the ‘best of the best’ from previous collections. Love it.

    • Laura March 5, 2010 at 12:53 pm #

That’s good to know her HD line is a collection of past besties!

  36. Caitlin B March 4, 2010 at 11:57 pm #

There was a color in her old line called Estuary. Oh. So perfect. The most wonderful color I’ve ever had the pleasure of using…

  37. molly March 6, 2010 at 3:06 pm #

i have absolutely no qualms about picking out each and every swatch at the paint shop.
    true happiness.

  38. Erica March 7, 2010 at 1:31 pm #

If HD cared, they wouldn’t have pre-punched holes and plastic rings with their premium paint swatches. Take away!

  39. michele March 8, 2010 at 7:45 pm #

i have been known to do the same thing. totally.

  40. Ashley Moseley March 11, 2010 at 6:19 pm #

We purchased the MS paint and it is FANTASTIC! It went on so beautifully and the colors are amazing! We did the living room in Sisal and the dining room in Artichoke Heart. Love it!

  41. Jennie March 13, 2010 at 12:25 pm #

We are painting our bedroom Martha’s Ice Rink blue right now!! I will comment soon. :0)

Hi there, I am very hapy to stumble into your site. I have been looking for the old Martha Stewart Valspar Paints for touch ups; I wonder if you can help me. The color I am looking for is like an avocado green (yellowish green), that has the name VERDE as part of it. Lowes person said I just need the formulation number in back of the card and she can mix it for me. I really hope you can provide the formula. Thank you so much in advance. Isabel

  43. Andrea March 31, 2010 at 11:22 pm #

I totally did this yesterday! Okay, not every single swatch from the collection, but probably close to 2/3. I looked through them all like I was actually picking them out, so I probably looked legitimate :) I did take all the greens and blues, though, they are pretty! I love how they have the ceiling and trim suggestions on the back. I guess a lot of other paints have coordinating colors on the back of the swatch, but I like Martha’s combinations better. And I also admit to still having a few from her line at Sherwin-Williams… I also recognized some of the same paint names at HD. I wonder if they are actually the same colors? I didn’t pick them up, thinking I already had them… now I wish I did!

  44. michelle climent June 16, 2010 at 6:17 pm #

I am desperately seeking a formula for the old kmart martha stewart colors…linen white, and something called gua huang??? I have tried countless colors to equal these two …with NO luck! do you happen to have swatches of these???? I am crossing my fingers!!!

  45. Olivia July 6, 2010 at 12:58 pm #

I had my husband pick up every color at Home Depot! I was too shy. He said that no one looked at him strangely. I guess men don’t care.

I LOVE these colors. Each color belongs to one of six color-coordinated groups, and the groups are identified by a little symbol on the color card.

My red oak flooring matches Cornucopia and Graham Cracker Crust, which are both in the group identified by a little apple symbol. So I chose my wall colors from the “apple” group to complement my floor. I have Sisal and Crevecoeur in my living room, dining room, and hallway. I have Cityscape in my kitchen and bathroom. I am using the other colors to help guide me in choosing the perfect accessory colors! It’s a designer’s dream.

  46. Olivia July 6, 2010 at 1:03 pm #

Also, I have found the paints to be high in quality. The paint is pretty thick, not too watery. Maybe just slightly more watery than Behr, but the low VOC formula makes it better than Behr.

  47. Patti September 11, 2010 at 1:58 pm #

My husband just did this for me and was questioned by the paint department manager. My husband wasn’t deterred, though, and we came home with the complete set. The manager seemed perplexed and in disbelieve as he watched my husband.

I’ve looked at various websites that have had lengthy debates about the subject – taking what is free vs. stealing store property. After this morning, I don’t know what I think. Easy for me to say now that I have the whole set!

I did look on the Home Depot website and a fan deck is available for $40.

I have often collected all the paint chips in a line. No problems.

I have saved all the paint chips from the Lowe’s Valspar Martha Stewart line and they just made two of the colors for me.

Good for Lowe’s, but I will look at Home Depot too.

***Somehow I am missing three of my paint chips from the MS Valspar line at Lowe’s If anyone has MS002, MS003 and MS095 to share, I would love to have them!!! Thanks in advance***

  49. Billie A February 27, 2011 at 12:16 pm #

I bought some MS paint many years ago for my craft room and I am trying to find the paint chip that has my ceiling color which was a light yellow, the paint chip combo also had Marzipan (green) on that same combo card. Do you know if you have idea what the yellow color would of been? I am thinking if I heard the color I’d remember if it was correct or not. I am not finding any other search on line so I’d appreciate the help. I have a small area to touch up and did not really want to paint the whole ceiling as it’s a large room. I guess I would also need the paint numbers or what ever the store needs to make it up.. Thanks so much.

I’ve been looking for some of the colors that Lowe’s carried in the Martha Stewart line and can’t find them anywhere. Do you have “water glass” 235 and “summer storm”? Do you know where I could get them? I’m trying to have the paint store color match but can’t find any sample cards. These colors are already on my walls and I love them. I just some more to touch up. Thanks in advance. Any help would be fantastic!
