We’ve decided to go with IKEA’s Urban chairs for our backyard. They’re comfortable, modern, inexpensive, and they won’t burn your bottom (as we fear metal chairs may). Plus Meredith and Sarah alerted me to a set of four on Craigslist, so we only needed four more to complete a set.
Now that we have decided upon dining chairs, our patio will finally be complete! Things have changed a bit since the last time I posted about the patio furniture, so I put together a design board to show how everything works together. I’ll take photos after the garden fills in a bit more.

When I worked for Pier 1, we carried those Orbit chairs & could never keep them in stock! They look great with a rectangular pillow, too. I am all about IKEA’s outdoor chairs this year, too. Did you use Adobe Illustrator to do your design board? Just curious; I am helping my mother-in-law redecorate and a visual like this would help. Love your site! I always look forward to getting the email!

Oh! That egg chair is great! I’m thinking of putting a similar one in my back yard but I’m concerned about how it will do when the rainy season comes. Will you keep it under cover?

I was wondering how u made the design board, I use mydeco.com to make a moddboard online.
I’m curious also….did you store the egg chair in the winter? It still looks BRAND NEW! Do you take the cushion off everyday?
I’ve had the orange Urban chair for 2 years. I leave them outside all year round and they have worn beautifully. I’m very impressed and pleased. At the beginning of the season I scrub them with a brush and Dr Bronner’s castile soap and water and they look like new.

Great choice with the Urban chairs from IKEA. I do not have a big outdoor area but these chairs are a godsend because they are also stack-able, and red wine stains come off quickly with salt, soap and a toothbrush.
