I heard once that birds build nests only in places where there is positive energy…That bird felt the good vibes :)

It always seems like the nest pop up overnight. We had bird build a nest in the corner of our balcony.

For the past 10 days, I’ve been blogging about a robin who has built her nest in my backyard. Following her progress has been fascinating but has made me slightly nutty worrying about the fate of the bird and her eggs.

my parents have always had doves in just the same spot. unfortunately their column is actually hollow but my mom cut down a big plant tray so the nest would stop falling in.

Feels sort of like a blessing, doesn’t it? When birds live at your house? I love that.

They do that at my house too. The silly birds also build nest in the cable TV wires against my house. I wish I could talk to them and let them knot that isn’t the best place to nest.

Must be that time of year. I came home from work yesterday to discover a robin’s nest in a similar position on our front porch. Apparently it’s a very artsy robin as the nest is decorated with lovely gray moss and long, dangling dried weeds!

We thought it was cute too, for the first year. But, it made our porch such a mess! Really gross! Year two we decided the birds would have to nest somewhere else. The birds were so determined, we would have to knock nest starts down several times a day. We finally used inexpensive acrylic heating/air conditioning vent directional covers on the tops or our porch columns. Works like a charm without being ugly. We now enjoy the nests in the nearby trees.

The bird likes your porch as much as I do! Can I nest there? = )

I love the Ikea seating. It looks great. Also, where did you get your hanging pots for your ferns? They look awesome!

    Darling!

We had finches–I think they were, anyway– nesting on the wreath of our side door when we lives on a farm. Once there were eggs we had to use another door. I loved hearing them from my kitchen. So peaceful.

Ugh. We had sparrows ‘attempting’ to build a mud nest on the side of our house. We just had to keep knocking it down because they woke us up every morning at 4am. And in Swe where houses do not have AC you have to sleep with your windows open in the summer. I felt bad, for about 2 seconds. Then I remembered how much I like my sanity.

We had one in our transom window 2 years ago. It’s great fun. It softens the edges of our urban environment and reminds us that there’s a whole other world going on out there…one without iPads, immigration laws, and Justin Bieber ;)

A robin has a nest right outside of my window! I caught a nasty crow stealing its pretty blue eggs the other day. It was awful. Watch out for those monsters!

I am lucky to live near a wooded edge, so I have had nests often. However, the one Robin nest was a less positive experience . . . the parents were REALLY aggressive about chasing me from that corner of my house/yard . . . it would hop along the roofline, “shooing” me back into the house! It never came after me bodily, but I’d had enough when the babies fledged. I removed the nest so that they wouldn’t lay a second clutch in such close proximity. If the nest is not someplace you walk past all the time, it’ll probably be fine.
