Well, we’ve swung over to the other side of the pendulum.
The Napa dining table looked right at home in Anne’s modern country dining room, and it still looked great when her taste went more traditional. Now Anne has passed it on to her little sister Lia, who doesn’t have much money but isn’t short on colorful quirk.
The dresser is fantastic, no? To be honest though, Lia is on a super tight budget (she’s just out of college), so she found a similarly clean-lined dresser on Craigslist and painted it herself. She also painted the chairs from her sister, and put a bright aqua blue on the walls. Luckily the floors in her apartment are wood and in good shape, because she doesn’t have the money for a big rug right now. A paper lantern above the table has a ton of impact for just a few bucks, and a party banner and stick-on wall flowers fill the wall space inexpensively. Crazy patterned curtains add a whole lot of fun to the room, and colorful glasses and dinnerware play supporting roles.
We’ll check in on Lia again soon, and see how her dining room is progressing. She’s about to land a decent job, so she’ll have a little bit of money to add some new goodies to her apartment.

Lia is a thrifty gal! I would of never thought to use a party banner as art work!
I’m on a budget and use a banner, too! It’s taking up space until I can afford to have some pictures I took enlarged and framed. I’ve also started putting up all the art crafts the boys (3 & 6) bring home from school. :)
Wow! I love that you’re creating an entire story to go with your mood board, and I totally think I might steal that look for my own dining nook. Like your Lia, I also am on a tight budget and want my space to be fun and cute.
Love the painted green chair and dresser! Those would add so much to any room.
I LOVE those curtains!!!
It is fun to see how you put this room together…I love your photo boards! I have a few CB2 items and like that they add color and are also versatile. Now if only my older sister would give me a Napa Dining Table;)
this is my favorite of these that you’ve done yet! sounds like lia’s style is just like mine, including the fresh-out-of-school-and-still-living-like-a-student bit. now, if only i had a dining room to decorate…=)
Love, love, love the curtains! They pull the whole look together so nicely.
Love this! So quirky and gorgeous!
The more color the happier I feel…so bring it on!
That dresser would be a lovely place for my pants and shirts to live. I think they could have a very nice life there.
This one is right up my alley! I even have the wall flowers. Most people are afraid of color – I’m afraid of neutrals! :-)
This is so fun!! Love the quirkiness and color!
I love the curtains! Now where can I convince my husband to let me put them?
This is definitely more my style. I love all the bright colors!
What a lovely mix!
I’m bummed that Urban Outfitters don’t sell their housewares here. It’s JUST clothes. Then again it’s probably a good thing, because I’d buy too much!
I love this room! The dresser, curtains, and chair are such a contrast to the table.
I feel like I want to befriend these ladies. Lia seems like a sweetie!

I love the woodland curtains from Urban Outfitters, I looked on their web site to see if they have the duvet, but alas, they do not have it in king size :(
What a shame it’s just so pretty.
I love those dining room chairs!! A party banner is such a cute/thrifty idea, I’m so stealing it!
