Style: January ’11

I am SO ready to be out of maternity clothes. Do you know what I started this whole outfit around? A belt. A belt I would love to wear… If only I had a waist.

The yellow skirt comes with its own belt (which is nice), but swapping it out for the pink one would be extra cute. I’m a fan of colorful tights, and I think matching them to your skirt makes your legs look nice and long. Bronze flats finish off the bottom half by still tying into all the yellow, but not going overly matchy-matchy. Same reason I went with a dark olive green bag, and I’m into fun key chains lately, so I’d have this one tucked inside. Now, for the top half (a very important half, yes?). J. Crew makes the best tees, hands down. Add a cool pendant necklace and a sweet little ring and you’re done.

So pretty. If I didn’t have such giant skull crushing knees (I never show ’em), I’d be all over that skirt.

Lands End Canvas also makes really nice t-shirts. I think a bunch of them are on sale right now…

I’m with you, sister! I had my baby boy three months ago tomorrow! And I still have my maternity wardrobe on permanent wearing rotation! My bets are on those sweet flowery summer dresses that will avoid the muffin top nightmare when wearing my favorite pair of jeans!

Howeverrrr – fingers crossed for an easy labor and birth and for a great recovery!

Strangely I don’t yet loathe my maternity clothes, and I’m at 8 months (seriously, why does everyone talk about pregnancy as 9 months when by all measures I’ve heard it seems to be 40 weeks == 10 months?!). I guess a minimal wardrobe really works for me, though I am ready to return to my normal shape. I’d say I was looking forward to not having to do laundry quite so often to make sure I have clean clothes, but I’m well aware that I will be doing *someone else’s* laundry even more frequently!

I’m loving those yellow tights, but I just don’t think I’d have anywhere to wear them. Perhaps I should gussie myself up a bit for the grocery store :)

Love these colors! I know you have probably been asked this a thousand times, but how do you make your mood boards? Photoshop, lasso tool? Ugh, I just want to make a few for myself to figure out where I want my house to be, and I can’t figure it out! :)

What a pretty outfit. I know it’s not the same, but some of my very pregnant girlfriends have been wearing a very thin belt right above their belly. I couldn’t do it when I was pregnant because my belly sat too high, but it looks great on lower-sitting bellies!

I definitely could not pull this one off. I love how you can just mix colors and they all look fab on you and it becomes so you. I do love the bronze flats and Target no less? An amazing find! These are always my favorite posts of yours:)

    Hi Nicole,

I was reading your blog the other day and noticed that we have the same due date! I COMPLETELY hear what you are saying about being done with maternity clothes; I am sick of the 4 outfit rotation! Great blog and good luck with the home stretch! I look forward to see some of your outfit inspirations in the next few months…when I can actually FIT into the items showcased :)

Would you be up for sharing the program you use to create these lovely boards? Your room boards are also nice. Just curious! Thanks.

I don’t even wear belts on a regular basis and at 38+ weeks I’m so excited at the thought of being able to wear one again! *lol* Love the skirt and the pink belt!

I just saw and touched this skirt at Anthropologie. It is beautiful, and if I had the body for it, I’d own it. And I’m not even pregnant!

@Allison – it’s about the “egg’s” age more than the 9 actual months of pregnancy ;). Medical stuff, I’m not very good at but I’ll try to do my best – the egg is basically created few weeks before you actually get pregnant – how do you know you’re pregnant? you’re missing your period – hence, your unfertilized eggs get washed out. Except this time it’s different. So at about two weeks from its creation, one lucky little egg gets fertilized. Now what happens next? The lucky lil’ one wonders around inside your womb trying to pick the right spot and that could take two weeks too… Yeah.. rereading myself I sound like a complete nutcake but I hope it helps ;)

    Hugs

Bronze flats are great. I have a pair of bronze Mary Jane flats and have worn them 3x a week for the last two years. A very fun neutral.
