Timeless

This is my favorite way to dress babies when they’re still so little. Classic union suits and fun patterned socks.

August’s outfit is vintage, and his socks were a gift from sweet Yvonne all the way from the Netherlands.

I agree! I love looking for fun socks. Old Navy has a very great selection of patterned socks.

I am always a fan of a baby in a plain white onesie. Once upon a time, all babies wore white dresses till they were two, right?

I totally agree. I just hate how annoying little baby boy clothes can get. Seriously: #1 quarterback?! No thanks.

When my daughter was first born the only color I dressed her in was white. It seemed the most calming at the time.

yes, LOVE babies in white. I hate baby clothes with cartoons and silly sayings. I dont want to look at that stuff – I want to look at the baby!

I LOVE simple white onesies for babies. The other day I was walking around Target looking for something for a friend of mine who just gave birth to a baby girl. I could not find ANYTHING! I was actually pretty grossed out by the clothes and thought to myself “maybe when we have kids we shouldn’t find out the sex only to prevent getting clothes that say something along the lines of “sweet princess” or “big slugger”. Ah.

In case you are curious, in the end I got her a pack of three white onsies with these leggings:

It was the best I could do!

That’s a cute outfit that you put together! It’s hard to find baby clothes sometimes that don’t put the kids into an automatic stereotyped gender role. Or have characters on them. Or I should say, it’s hard to find them at an affordable price.

Such a sweet look! I had a summer baby, so no socks at all for her, just light cotton dresses and onesies.

I love the plain color sleepers. I was just looking at the ones Paulina Quintana has to offer (on Hautelook), and I love the idea of wordless, pictureless, patternless baby clothes. Her sleepers are bright colors, rather than white, but I think they would still be fabulous with crazy socks. August looks darling.

Depends on the socks. Old Navy socks are great, but best for babies that are a little older (and still great on toddlers too). The best ones are Trumpette. They’re pricey, but they’re really cute and they stay on. The ones he has on in the photo are actually my new favorites, but I have no clue how to get more (they’re from the Netherlands!).

I really love the baby tube socks made by Hank & JoJo … They are so cute and stay on my 1.5 week old wiggler with no problem. Plus, they go all the way up his legs, so he can wear just a onesie, a diaper, and the socks – which makes changing him so much easier!

Totally! It’s funny, I was just trying to explain this look to my fiance last night. His family tends toward dressing infants like little adults, complete with name-brand shoes that will fit them for all of a month. I like this WAY more. I’ve also pre-commissioned my step mother, who is a professional knitter, to knit a bunch of long baby sweaters to be worn with Baby Legs. Adorable.

I love those little fun socks! So cute and fun! I also love the solid basic one piece for babies! Funny that solid one piece outfits for babies in any color are so hard to find!

I love how you dress your kids in the pics you post on your blog! :) They wear such fun kid clothes in simple styles! I’m not a fan of “themed” baby, toddler, or kid clothes!

I really prefer the basic stuff solid colors, fun stripes, brights and pastel!

Although, I have to admit my 7 year old has talked me into several super hero t-shirts and just recently talked me into 2 Star Wars t-shirts. My 4 year old has talked me into a hello kitty and princess t-shirts! I’m sure my 2 year old will soon have a say in a few things!

I just naturally lean towards clothes that will look more timeless in pics when my kids are adults then clothes that are busy with all sorts of crazy things like “Mommy’s little toot”, etc.

Okay, I remember awhile back reading your blog and finding a post on how you lost weight post baby. I thought it was so interesting and had never heard of the system before. I know you are not thinking about that these days. But, will you explain it all again. I know you said it was simple but, since I had never heard of it before I didn’t get how to do it.

I need to loose weight and with 3 kids I need something simple and automatic and it seemed like your system was. I’ve done WW before but, I don’t feel geared up for counting points this time plus, its expensive to pay each week. I have a lot to loose 50+ and I’ve struggled to figure out how to do it but, am motivated to try something since I’m done birthing and nursing finally after 7 years! :)

Thanks for any input or future blog posts!

Here’s the post where I explained my weight loss. All you need is graph paper and a scale, and a common sense general approach to eating better.

I gained 40 pounds with my first pregnancy, then lost 60. I gained 45 the second time around and am already down 25 (August was 10 of those pounds!), but I’ll need to lose the additional weight again at some point. I plan on doing the same thing I did last time because it worked out really well for me.

Hi, I like how you dress your kids – so simple and adorable. As a mother of baby girl I find it difficult to shop. So far I tend to dress my little one in white t-shirts and onesies, yet I want to add some nice and girly touch. So far I go for hair accessories (etsy is good for such things) and your idea with socks is great as well. Thanks!
The other problem that it’s tough to find quality pieces which would not break the bank – especially since babies outgrow their clothes so fast, would you mind sharing your favorite shopping spots?

Adorable! I also have a little boy, he’s 6 months old. It’s a real challenge to find things that aren’t overly branded, have characters on them, etc. I love that Target carries the Dwell line. That’s a staple for us!

For the first couple of months I was dressing both my girl and my boy into pyjamas that could unbutton in the lower part so I could easily change diapers without having to undress them whole. After that my girl was in onesies combined with dresses and tights, and for the boy I got so much “grown-up” looking clothes from friends that I have simply accepted the style.
