IKEA Share Space

Have you seen IKEA’s new Share Space site? I always think it’s fun to see how real people take things and use them in their own homes, and this new site is dedicated to that idea.

IKEA is a sponsor of Making it Lovely, but I’ve always had a lot of love for them. Brandon and I redid our kitchen with IKEA cabinets shortly after we moved into our house, so I’ve added a few of my photos on Share Space. The more people add, the more fun the site will be to browse and search.

IKEA has also launched their first US blog, Design by IKEA, to go along with the site. Good news for those of us that were previously getting our IKEA fix from their Swedish blog!

What a great idea! It reminds me of the Ikea Lovers group on Flickr, minus the hundreds of pics of people doing self-portraits in Ikea.

I’m a huge fan of Ikea. I went through a phase about eight to ten years ago where I rebelled because I wanted “adult furniture” but I’m back to furnishing my home with staple pieces from there. Our bedroom and my new office space are very clearly Ikea creations, but for right now I’m okay with that.

I think it’s all in the mix. IKEA can look really great in the right setting, and just like furniture from any one store, it looks best mixed with pieces sourced from other places.

That site is awesome! Always fun to see how other people use IKEA products as a blank canvas.

Great to see they have finally set up an US/English blog! The Swedish version was always a great way to get design ideas and hopefully the new one will be just as helpful. Anyone else use a translator when looking at the designs on the Swedish blog?
