Honor Roll

Honor Roll

Sometimes I come across something so cute/sweet/charming/funny/pretty/inspiring/lovely that I just want to share it with you. These are the things that have made my honor roll.

* Not to imply that plus-sized can’t be gorgeous. I just wanted to clarify in case it came across the wrong way.

I also write for Babble’s Family Style blog. Here’s what I’ve been sharing there…

Just have to brag a little; I was in the discussion section that the “Femistry Ryan Gosling” idea started last week. I feel kinda cool :)

Woah. And I just realized that Danielle writes it. I was at the Mighty Summit with her last year! Awesome.

All the ‘thinspiration’ pins on Pinterest has really reminded me how depressing the fashion industry is in regards to bombarding women with heavily photoshopped images “idealized” females. The average American woman is a size 14 but a plus size model is a size 10? Really? Ridiculous. They literally have to airbrush health back onto the models because they look so wan from starving themselves to maintain their unnatural 00 size. I personally don’t see how that is considered beautiful, and it’s caused generations of women to be uncomfortable/unhappy with their bodies because they don’t know what the real ‘normal’ is anymore.

For those of us that are naturally small-framed, it’s just as frustrating to hear so much negativity toward small sizes. As a NATURAL 00, I am allowed to love my body just as much as any other woman can and should. If we want to encourage women to acknowledge their naturally beautiful bodies, the double-standards need to end.

This woman in the picture is so beautiful! I can’t believe she is considered to be a “plus size” model.

If that is true, what hope do I have? LOL

Honestly…The world we live in is getting weirder and weirder uh?

Ah, Ryan Gosling! I have a friend that looks just like him, especially his role in Blue Valentine because this friend wears Misfits tees daily. I had slept with this friend years ago (too much information for a first comment? hmm, yikes) but found him so attractive once again after watching the movie. Funnily enough he confided in me that he thought his new girlfriend was dating him for the same exact reason! ~swoon

Anywho, just sorting through Babble’s new top 50 list- I’m down to the M’s and just now finding something I like! (; Mom blogs can just be so…*momish*

Looking at this model reminds me of a conversation I just had with my daughter. She is (already) wearing her Halloween costume (Ariel) and told me that she is beautiful when she wears the costume. I said, “Sweetie, you are always beautiful, no matter what you wear.” Her response: “No, just when I wear this costume.” Yikes. She’s only four!

So Nicole (and a commenter too), you are implying plus size models are not also gorgeous.

In your own interpretation of this you confirm that skinny equals beautiful.

    Give it a think.

No, that’s why I clarified my statement in the post above.

That model is a really good example of a beautiful female woman body. It’s a shame media and the fashion industry insist in telling us otherwise!

Girls are perfect just the way they are. What a boring world it would be if all women looked like barbie dolls!

I’ve heard about what Barbie’s dimensions would be if she were a real woman, but this is great because it just shows how silly the idea really is. Glad that it made your honor roll and that I stumbled onto your blog.
