Eleanor's Room The First House

Planning a Mini-Makeover for Eleanor’s Room

I’m never really one to finish a room and call it done. It’s more fun to tweak and look at my home as an ever-changing, evolving project. So I have a mini-makeover planned for Eleanor’s room, all because I was in the market for a new duvet cover for her. Her polka dot cover is cute, but we needed a backup for when it was in the wash. Details below:

  1. Painted Ponies Bedding

This set is the one I ordered, but I’ve put together a post with a whole bunch of options for horse obsessed kiddos.

  2. Wall Dot Vases*
I ordered mine yesterday at half off from Fab (I found them on the last day, and the sale is now over), but they can be purchased directly from Chive.

  3. Polka Dot Curtains
We already had these on hand, from Eleanor’s nursery. Similar curtains can be found here.

*Those wall vases will take a long time to arrive (several weeks, probably — the downfall of shopping flash sale sites).

I’m still in love with them too! I’ll be hanging on to them, so we can switch back and forth between different bedding and curtain options from time to time.

Lovely. My daughter picked polka dot curtains for her room – it’s such a happy pattern.
Question, does your daughter use her beanbag? I am thinking of making one or two for the kids, but am not sure about if they’d use them.

Nah, she doesn’t use it much. I had high hopes, but I’m usually the one sitting on it, while putting her laundry away. Maybe when she’s older?

My daughter – who is now 8 – received 2 beanbags for Christmas. She uses them all the time with her friends. So it will get used…one of these days!

For a cheaper polka dot curtain alternative, did you see these at ikea: http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/50206739/ I really love the whole summer textile line at ikea right now. All my favourite colours!

I love the horse bedding set, Nicole! I didn’t realize that Eleanor loved horses. Isn’t it fun, when they start to show preferences (obsessions ?) for certain things?

Mini-makeovers are fun. I love changing things up!

She adores them. She likes horses and trains equally, and since the trains are already well-represented with the big train table in the middle of her room, I figured we ought to bring in a little something equestrian.

    Hi there
What cute beddine, I’ll have to keep that in mind for my littlest one – my older girl’s room is however the room I’m currently planning a mini makeover for … those bold flowery curtains are just the sort of thing I’m looking for, would you mind telling me where the fabric is from …
    Thanks, Emma

I made the curtains from Moda’s “mom’s couch” fabric, but that was five years ago and I think it’s nearly impossible to find yardage now.

    Love those pony sheets!

I do the same with our home–constantly tweaking and mixing things up. I have a stash of curtains tucked away in the laundry room–most I’ve picked up at thrift stores and yard sales. Every so often every room gets a switcheroo. :) It keeps me sane.

any idea what color the blue paint is in the sample room they have on their website? my daughter also loves trains and horses. LOVE the sheets. $300 seems steep for a twin bedding set but I LOVE the blue paint, pom poms, polka dots and horses.

I’m not sure we’re looking at the same thing. I don’t see any blue, and the sheet set is $68 for a twin-size.

I think she is referring to the third picture on the Garnet Hill website…the sort of attic looking room with the two twin beds. Not sure about the pricing, though.
