August’s First Haircut

We took him to a kids’ salon, which was cheesy and filled with toys, but also filled with good distractions for a wiggly little boy. I want to be that mom that takes my kids to the cool, authentically vintage barber shop, but for the first? When I didn’t know how he would react? Yep, kids’ place all the way.

Although I did have to make the pictures black and white, because holy garish colors you guys.

August's First Haircut

He looks like such a little man now.

He didn’t cry? I have pictures of my brother crying at his first haircut. And it was at one of those vintage barbers. That was all there was back then. This was the 50’s.
Your daughter looks very concerned. Too funny!

Your kids are too cute. Are they nice to each other? I always wanted to have a sibling close in age to me. My sister is 5 years younger but even then it seems too far apart.

We tried one of those kids places once and hated it. The cut was bad. It was fairly pricey. And the stylist was crabby. I’m still trying to figure out where to take my kids while I’m looking for a new stylist. It’s frustrating to say the least :) Glad your little guy turned out cute!

I am glad you made them black and white. I feel like it tells a much more personal story. Such adorable eyes!

I love the photo where she is holding his hair straight up. He looks so focused! :)

The hair sticking straight up one is my favorite too. And I totally want Eleanor’s dress in my size. Your kids are darling!

Darling! Where is E’s dress from? You have the most wonderfully stylish family.

E’s expression in the second photo cracks me up. It’s as if she was worried about him. :)

Awesome that he did so well. I’ve cut Remy’s hair twice (he’s a few days younger than August) but he desperately needs a REAL haircut. Haha But I have been terrified to take him anywhere.

Tell the truth, there were massive bribes involved huh? Or do they hand out benadryl laced dum dums?

So grown up – bless him! … I daren’t get my little one’s hair cut, she has the most beautiful curls and I’m petrified they will disappear if they get cut off – speaking as a girl with mousey, fine, straight hair!!

That fountain was one of my favorite places to play as a kid! I hope he had a penny to throw.

Hmm…our “cool, authentically vintage barber shop” has Playboy and Penthouse magazines in the waiting are (per my husband!)….not sure if you’d really want to take your kids to one, haha!

Yep, for my kid’s first haircut I did the same. All those mini airplane, car, firetruck chairs to pick from and the movies were a great distraction. But the real attention grabber was the half-sized bathroom, complete with mini potty, sink and a half-sized door to get into it.

    Your little man looks adorable!

Westgate barber near Just Knits and 10000 Villages is great with kids. These are adorable photos. My son’s first haircut was in the kiddy pool in the back yard.

Eleanor looks like such a big girl in a lot of her pictures, but standing here next to August, you can see that she still just a baby. So sweet.
