August's Room

New for August’s Room

August will be in his crib for a little while still, but he’ll be transitioning to a bed soon enough. I’ve picked up just a couple of new additions for his room in anticipation.

New for August's Room

This blanket is so soft and warm, but I love that it has stripes on the outside. And hello, little foxy lamp! You are adorable.

I haven’t decided on a direction for the rest of the room yet, but I do like this camp look a lot.

But then I also like these Curious George or Where the Wild Things Are sheets. Before I had kids, I never thought I’d go for bedding with characters on it. I know how happy the horse bedding made Eleanor though, and I’m sure August would love something similar.

I think we’ll be changing things up in a few months or so. E was always content to stay in her bed until we came to get her (she still is), but August is off and running every chance he gets. We’re kind of surprised he hasn’t learned to scale the crib yet, and we’ll probably keep him in there until he does.

So jealous you got your hands on the fox lamp! I can’t find one anywhere — it seems Target sold out right away.

Oh, I love that little fox lamp! It is not at any of the stores in my area and seems to be sold out online :( I am debating on the WTWTA sheets myself for my 2 yo son………..also never thought I’d go for character bedding, but I think Max is cool and my boy is a bit of a wild thing himself!

At first I thought the Where the Wild Things Are bedding would be great with a woodsy theme, but those guys would give me nightmares before bed. Have you thought about the owl sheets from Garnet Hill? http://www.garnethill.com/owl-percale-bedding/bedding-bath/new-arrivals/263947?defattrib=&defattribvalue=&listIndex=0 They seem to have some brown in them and would give you other fun colors that would probably tie in with brightly colored toys. Have fun, and let me know when you’re done and we’ll do a tour on AT. :-)

I would totally go with the WTWTA sheets. My 5 year old son is “so over” Curious George but WTWTA is still quite popular.

I just picked up the coordinating woodpecker lamp (with its final location to be determined). I ordered it online so I haven’t seen it in person yet. I thought the fox one looked pretty cool too at least on the website. I am also really digging the new Land of Nod stuff, I feel like they have really uped their game by offering the right mix of kid friendly but still nice on the eyes for the grownups. My son still loves his race car bed (in all of its plastic glory), but I am looking forward to updating his room to a bigger boy space down the road.

Oh my gosh. I love that lamp. And the whole idea of a camp theme. I have little girls but I think they’d be nuts over a girly camp room.

I love the log pillow from the camp look. That blanket looks super cozy – I think I might need one for me! I definitely think you should go with a woodsy theme, but include some fun patterned sheets for August to love. Can’t wait to see what his room transitions to!

I saw those sheets at Pottery Barn Kids and wanted to buy them for myself! They are just too adorable and not your typical cartoony sheets. The rest of the accessories are perfect!

I always get annoyed when really, really nice bedding only comes in kids sizes. I would Love that faux bois quilt. Love it. The pillows are also great. Whatever you do, I’m sure it will be great and go viral.

Just checked out the “Patch” from Target. Why don’t you write a post about this new shop at Target, or some of the other offerings in this “Shop” theme?

I am living in a tiny apartment with my husband right now. We are hoping to move to a house next year. I rushed out and had to buy the fox lamp to put in my future dining room or foyer. He is just too cute to resist.

I went to Target when they first opened (in my defense I desperately needed some cold meds too) and they only had the one. They had one of each lamp and the woodpecker lamp they had was already broken.

I think it’s Land of Nod or West Elm where I’ve seen an area rug that had the same kind of wood grain pattern as the comforter in the picture above. That would be really cute with what you already have. Heck, I’d love to find carpeting like that for my living room…

I say nay to the character bedding. Do not like it at all. maybe something small, like a pillow in the character, but not the entire bed. Thats just my opinion.

As far as character sheets go, I think the WTWTA are pretty classic. I totally think you could mix those sheets in with the camp look! Can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Cute lamp…I’m happy I scored the similar woodpecker candleholder. I’m itching to re-do my nearly 8 year old’s room, but he’s sentimental and refuses to let me re-paint his bright red wall w/ rocket stickers. Hopefully he’ll change his mind someday, b/c I’m OVER it!

I got my woodpecker lamp (simliar to the fox lamp) in the mail today too along with the gold woodgrain pillow. I am totally loving it (although it is kind of strange that it can only take a 13 watt max bulb).

Heidi, is the 13w max referring to a CFL bulb? I found a shade-less fox lamp at my Target today (!!!! that they let me purchase for 20% off because of the missing shade) and it takes a 60w standard bulb. I believe that wattages differ for CFL bulbs, but could be wrong. Just thrilled with the little foxy lamp!! I was just posting yesterday that I couldn’t find one!
