Making it Yours 11C: French Modernist Armchair

I know some of you miss the stories that started to accompany my later Making it Yours (MiY) posts. I do too! I’ll bring them back next time.

We’ve come to the last look in this edition of MiY, featuring the French Modernist Armchair. When I work on this series, I like to reuse pieces throughout, just as we all tend to do in our homes over the years.

Taking a closer look, we have the pillows and throw from the first look, along with the striped lamp and a similar soft blue on the walls. The bookshelf from the second look has been brought into this bedroom space, and everything has gotten a lively dose of green courtesy of the new rug, which calls to mind the initial green sofa. I’ve also included a faux potted plant for this room, but of course you could take that idea and substitute a real one.

I like them all, but would probably pick B as a favorite. Using more neutrals allows the textures and patterns to shine more, and that’s what I was drawn to when looking at all of these. Although that green sofa in A is calling my name…!

One thing (of many) that I always appreciate about your round-ups or mood boards is how you include items at all sorts of pricepoints. This is something I wish shelter-mags would do too! We can’t all afford the Restoration Hardware bed to get the look, but the Ikea, Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel accents? We can rationalize those.

Keep up the well curated posts!

Thanks! I consciously try to include a variety of price points and sources, so I’m glad it’s appreciated.

I love the first one. It’s a bit more upbeat. Besides, I have always been a sucker for a nice velvet couch.

I really like the contrast with the green that we see in the first and last. But then again, I just love that green :)

I love the first one. It is a living room I could see myself in. I love the casual glamour.
