Cute Maternity Swimsuits

I’d hoped to stretch the maternity wardrobe I already had since this is my third (and likely last) pregnancy, but this whole ‘summer’ thing is not making that easy. Eleanor was born in late April and August was born in February, so the clothes I had weren’t great for warm weather. I had to add a pair of shorts and a few short-sleeved shirts, and I picked up a few maxi tank dresses too. Also? Summer has necessitated a maternity bathing suit. I have worn my regular one (a red and white polka dot Esther Williams one-piece) while pregnant before, but I was not as far along then as I am now.

At the Pool

Blech, I thought. Maternity swimsuit shopping: do I need to bother? But then I actually found a cute one-piece that looks a lot like my normal suit! And actually, there were several cute options out there.

    They are all super-cute!
I’m (quite) pregnant right now, and would totally advise you to stick to a one-piece though…I have a maternity tankini and the top tents out and exposes my belly…although a pregnant belly is cute, I’m just not one to show by bare belly to the world! Just a thought!!!

Good point. I went with the red and white one-piece anyway, so I don’t have to worry about it, but others might! Though a two-piece would be easier if you have to go to the bathroom. ;)

I was due in Jan with my son so not huge in summer, but I wore a bikini all summer (my pre-maternity one actually)and loved it. Plenty of belly room lol. And since I had to pee every 30 seconds, it was very convenient!

I have a polka-dot maternity tankini from Motherhood (its a few years old). At first the top floated away from my body, but as the belly got bigger, it stayed in place, and was long enough to provide good coverage. I think it all depends on the suit!

I stick with bikinis during pregnancy… no neeirto shop the maternity department.I’m currently 42 and pregnant with my 3rd child, and I feel completely comfortable in a bikini, despite the fact that I’ve went from a very fit 130 to 170 lbs (with 5 weeks to go). I feel like there’s no better time to show off my belly. My skin is tighter than ever, lol, and the comfort factor of a bikini is a biggie for me. I absolutely need to feel comfortable during pregnancy. With that said, I do like the looks of the red polka dot one piece. You look great in it!

I’m comfortable with the size of my body, but I got terrible stretch marks from when I was pregnant the first time. They cover my stomach, stopping well above my belly button, so no bikini for me.

Just piping in to say, I am so glad I’m not the only one with severe stretch marks. When my friends without kids ask me what they’re in for, I only tell them one thing: “I have stretch marks north of my belly button.”

I taught yoga several days a week up until about 7 months, then I was just way to big to even practice, let alone teach. A student said “uh, you aren’t gonna have that baby on your yoga mat, are you?” LOL!
Anyways, my point is – after that, I started swimming for exercise and loved it. I remember the Pea in the Pod suit I purchased was pretty spendy compared to what I would normally buy (ahem, Target), but it was worth the investment to feel cute and motivated to swim :)

I love my Sporti bikini. I researched tons of maternity suits, but when opted for the bikini which, I bought in 2 sizes to allow for “the girls” to grow.

The suit is remarkably comfortable as I churn out set after set.

Go for a new maternity suit! My maternity bathing suit – worn for 3 different pregnancies – is the BEST bathing suit I have ever owned. It wasn’t fancy, probably from Kohls or Old Navy or something, but I loved it!

I’ve actually been using a Merona suit from Target in a larger size, and i love it! It’s a one piece, but has a bit of extra fabric that goes just past your swimsuit, which is always nice. It was cheap, black, and has held up with my last pregnancy (my little girl will be 2 Saturday) and this pregnancy (due in a couple weeks….).

I got the magenta tankini top from Old Navy and I will use with some black bottoms I already had. It is pretty cute on, if I ignore my thighs, where my pregnancy weight is all landing. I was thinking it might show a little underbelly as I get more pregnant but the need to frequent the bathroom made me opt for a two piece. I’m due in September so I’m in for a super preggo summer-I think my need to be comfy at the pool will override any insecurity about how my suit will look!
