And I’m maybe just an eensy bit excited about it. An opportunity came up to go to Northern France, and while I wish Brandon were here with me (and that I could indulge in more than the tiniest sip of champagne while in the region), an amazing trip like this is not really the kind of thing you say no to.
Je parle seulement un peu français, but it’s coming back to me enough to get by. I’m visiting Reims, Dijon, and Poitiers as part of a sponsored campaign with the French board of tourism, and then extending the trip to visit Marrakesh and Paris too. I have some other content planned to share with you while I’m away, and of course I’ll recap the trip in a couple of weeks when I’m back. Until then, you can see some of what I’ll be up to on Instagram if you’re curious!

Have a great time. I always lament that the only french I know is RSVP!
Have fun! I just got back from two weeks in Paris! Make sure to check up on the Paris transit strike when you get into the city. It was kind of a headache getting out of the city.
Yes, some of the RER trains are running with long delays, or not at all. The racket of what I assume was the people on strike (a cacophony of drums and horns) was impressive at the airport. I took the SNCF out to Reims today though without problem.
Ahh, exciting! Hope you have a wonderful trip. Travel is so inspiring!
Yay for you! Paris is my favorite city and I would move there in a heartbeat if I could. Even if you can’t enjoy the Champagne, definitely eat all the bread, cheese and chocolate you can get your hands on! And yes, it’s perfectly appropriate to eat a pain au chocolat every single day – you’re in France, afterall, and pregnant to boot! :)
Oh, I’ve definitely been enjoying the chocolate. The best so far were the profiteroles after dinner last night, which had two types of chocolate to drizzle over. So good.
Welcome iin France !
Bienvenue dans mon pays (j’habite près de Paris) . J’espère que votre séjour sera agréable. J’aime toutes les régions de France qui ont chacunes du charme. Bon et heureux voyage.
Merci! Reims and surrounding Champagne region have been immensely charming. I’m eager to see more!
While in Paris, go eat the buckwheat crepe with goat cheese, honey and hazelnuts here (they’re only open at lunch)…you’ll thank me. It was one of our favorite meals during the whole 2 weeks we were in France last year…

Thank you for the recommendation!
Paris is delightful, I would love to go to Northern France…maybe cycle around the wine region!
You must be with Jordan from Oh Happy Day, because that hotel was just on her Instagram this morning too. :)
Yes, and we’re having so much fun! There are three other people with us as well, and then Jordan and I will be continuing our trip together with two friends.
How nice! I am in Sud France for 2 months, and I can tell you right now that I never want to leave. And I LOVED Marrakech! You’ll get to use your French there too! Can’t wait to see all the photos…
Amusez-vous bien! Je suis dans les Alpes du sud, si jamais vous désirez venir voir d’autres paysages…
J’espère que la grève SNCF n’a vous a pas posé trop de problèmes?
Bises!
I would love to, but I think five cities is enough for one trip. Next time, perhaps! And we’ve been lucky with the trains so far. Hopefully that will continue.
Do enjoy!
I went to France when I was 21 (14 years ago) and LOVED it! I bought a pair of sandals there and am asked all the time where I got them. I love saying, “Oh, these? They’re from Paris” :-). Have fun!!
Well, you never say ‘no’ to Paris…
I can’t wait to see your Marrakech photos!
Poor Brandon ):
I miss him terribly. It’s always hard when only one spouse travels.
All right, I know I’m late for my question, but I was wondering… Where did you learn to speak french?
I took two semesters in college and listened to a lot of Yé-Yé music! I can read it better than I can understand it in conversation, and I know enough to say most of what I need to, but my French is pretty limited.
[…] day after I got back from my trip, I figured I may as well paint a room. Then I realized what a dummy I was for pushing myself too […]
