The best thing about bangs is growing them out, feeling sexy again, like a natural beauty who loves the beach, but also loves a sleek pony. Every time I’ve got bangs, that’s how I feel. I don’t need an edgy haircut to go with my edgy personality, but I admire those who can pull it off.

Oh, Salted Caramel, how I love you! I’m so glad you’re easy to come by these days. You’re even good as a Carls Jr shake… Who’d have thought? !

I think I’ve gone maybe 6 months of my life without having bangs? And even then (this was just a couple of years ago!) they never really grew out all the way before I cut them again. It’s either bangs or a pixie cut for me, but I do love people that can pull off a good haircut without them. Maybe some day I’ll join their ranks. ;)

It’s funny I just wrote about the state of blogland a few days ago too (http://gracie-senseandsimplicity.blogspot.ca/2014/09/the-joy-of-blogging.html). I do find you have to take the time to think about why we blog and where the joy it in it – thankfully I’m still exciting about moving forward too.

p.s. I love your Honor Roll series and always enjoy checking out the links.

Thanks! And I loved reading your thoughts on blogging. Seems like its on a lot of peoples’ minds lately.

I’m so glad you posted about the blog-burnout. I actually follow each of those blogs, albeit not religiously (meaning they aren’t all in my bloglovin’ feed, lol), and I can see blog burnout a mile away. I LOVE the Petersiks, but I have always thought that they kind of mixed that “line” way too much, moderating each comment, answering each one, making each person feel like they are the only reader. It can be too much, especially with a new baby (hello PPD, I have had it-twice).

Glad you are excited moving forward. Wouldn’t be the same without you. Although your blog has evolved over time, and I may not share the same decorating styles that I did when you were at the old house, I do still love to see each and every post.

    Ok… now where’s that baby?

Sorry to hear you went through PPD twice. I hope Sherry is doing well, but for whatever reason she and John needed a break, I hope this time off will help them. Bloggers, creatives, anyone really — we’re all prone to burnout, don’t you think? It’s hard to be on your game all the time, every day without it catching up eventually.

I haven’t really written about it, but I’ve always been very open to talking in person to people about my approach — there are times when you’re hungry and actively seeking opportunities and advancing your goals, and times when you need to step back and coast just a little. Not to the point of not trying or phoning it in, but saying no to more things than you might otherwise, not starting on radical new changes or huge projects, things like that. I’ve been saying no to a lot of things coming up because I don’t need the added pressure of new deadlines looming when I have a newborn to take care of in the next couple of months. We all have our own boundaries, personal or work-related, and it’s important (but not always easy) to respect them, and hopefully that can help avoid burnout in the first place.

And ugh, I wish the baby were here! Why you gotta be so stubborn, little one? We want to meet you!

I was really excited when you didn’t post your Honor Roll on Friday because I thought the baby had come! How weird is it to be that way with someone you don’t even know? We’re all a bunch of voyeurs at this point in some ways with bloggers and that must be difficult as the one who has that lense turned on them constantly. Honestly, I don’t know how you do it but I’m so glad you do because I enjoy following your house and family adventures (and I do love a new baby!). Best of luck!

It was interesting to read about the blog burnout. Friends have been talking about blog-reading burnout and are unsubscribing from blogs for a while. I think staring at monitors is taking a toll.

Look forward to the birth announcement.

A drizzle of honey on a saltine cracker… it’s the perfect quick combination of salt and sweet (and crunch, can’t forget that)!

In my mind, I’m totally a girl with bangs…
Unfortunately it’s only in my mind because with my curly hair, every time I try to have bangs, it’s always disapointing! So every time I cut my hair, I try to remember the awfullness of having curly bangs and to have to pin it everyday and it helps forgetting my dream bangs… for now!
