Honor Roll

These are the things that have made my Honor Roll.

  • The white wall controversy. Are you on board? Were you always, and are you still?
“At least 90% of the homes we see every month (we reach out to and get submissions from hundreds of people around the globe on a regular basis) have “that” look: white walls, a mix of vintage Kilim rugs, lots of house plants and a carefully curated selection of found/salvaged objects.”
    (90%!?)

  • What are we to do if we’ve already got the white walls? Hit up the best furniture stores in Chicago for our vintage rugs, plants, and found objects, of course! (Kidding, and there really are some great shops listed.)

  • Don’t forget your fiddle leaf fig!

  • Cooking trends say we’re looking for kale, and now cauliflower, but are we really?

  • Kind of feeling like this today, but I’m about to turn it around like whoa. Gotta get my One Room Challenge space wrapped up and photographed!

We don’t have a single white wall in our house. Most of the house is a beautiful icy blue, our bedroom is a super light green, our son’s room is a light turquoise, the kids’ bathroom is a deep sea blue, our baby girl’s room is gray, and our office is a light coffee. I don’t like white walls, can you tell?

Our walls were wallpapered and peach when we moved in. I had most painted a soft grey that sadly looks like a soft blue or white depending on the day. My favorite rooms in the house have moody walls like a dark greyish navy or jade. So I guess I’m not a huge white wall person even though I thought I was.

Oh the Allrecipes article was an interesting read… but are we supposed to be surprised that “most people” are not foodies?

Loved the white wall article! Seeing the same same same on design sites all the time does get boring, white walls or not! I can appreciate white walls, but have never wanted to have a house full of them. Previously I’ve had a white kitchen, and in my current house the only room with white walls is my kidlet’s – to allow for the explosions of colour on everything else in there.

I like white for plaster walls, but yes, I’d like to see more variety featured on design blogs. I love mid century, but I’m on overload. That said, I’m seriously considering a fiddle leaf fig. I shall name him Ubiquitous.

Oh the white walls!!! I don’t mind them as much when the rooms bring in color in other ways (I.e. Emily Henderson). But rooms with white walls and all neutral furniture/accessories/decor seem so uninspiring to me! It also greatly depends on the style of the house, too. To each his own… I won’t tell anyone how to paint their own home!

The white walls are an inspiration to all the renters! Thanks for posting!

Yup, it looked totally doable to me too.

Since owning a FLF (I’ve had mine about 3 years), I notice them more and more on TV – especially in older television shows. I don’t watch TV often, but sometimes I put something like Columbo on and there in the background is a FLF! I have a feeling they were used often in Hollywood since they do look nice on camera and also they can be put outside in pots here in Southern California without problem. I also see them growing all around San Diego but didn’t know what they were until they began to pop up all over the design blogs!
