*sniff, sob*
I suppose it’s fitting that I have every single issue, right beside every issue of Blueprint. All heavily bookmarked of course.

I’m confused. I just subscribed to Domino
Betsy
I started a blog to save Domino! Please join me in my personal crusade to convince Conde Naste to save Domino!! Tell everyone you know – we have to stop this!!

So sad about Domino, mine too are heavily bookmarked. Country Home will go after March, I believe, and Mary Engelbreit too, I can’t keep up with them all!
I have to say… I have read many blogs, but yours is by far the coolest looking blog I have seen. What an awesome job on the design. My favorite is the “so so” photo layout, very sharp!
Have a great week!

I can’t believe this! Domino’s website is actually how I indirectly found your blog … I don’t remember how, but through looking through their links, and those links’ links … I discovered you and your blog! What a bummer…
I’ve been reading your blog for about a year and a half and I think this is the first time I’ve commented. I absolutely love everything that you do. Your house is amazing and really inspires me … for when I eventually will have a house of my own someday. Just wanted to let you know that I think you’re pretty awesome!

I feel sick! i LOVe this magazine! I have never thrown away an issue and I really like throwing things out too!
lauren
ugh. sigh. bummed.
salley
i feel the same, and will now look more and more to blogs for my inspiration.
first heartbreak, for me, was the closing of budget living. then blueprint. then cottage living. now this!
i have to question what it is about the demographic buying these magazines that makes them fold- are we generally lower wealth and its harder to attract advertisers? i know the industry is having a hard time generally but it seems like every, litterally every, magazine i like ends up folding. (it probably didnt help that i read budget living for free at the library…)

I love your design ideas. I too live in a bungalow (1927) and have been pouring quite a bit of time, money, and love into fixing it up. Your site has provided much inspiration. I just tagged you on my site http://www.academichic.com.

Hi Nicole!
I’m a frequent peruser of your blog – it’s great! I admire your taste, your perserverance (redoing a home is TEDIOUS, albeit fun), and your business savvy!
I live in DC and actually came across a little feature on your Periodic Table of Sentiments cards in the Washington Express today. I’m not sure if you knew of this and I wanted to let you know! I can scan it and send it to you – I looked for an email address but couldn’t find one. They’re looking very cute and witty!

Drat! I think Country Home is also gone.
Kelly
Nicole, you should write a blog post dedicated to magazines: how you store them in your own home, what you love to read and collect now, and what you used to read/collect in younger days. Your photography is always inspiring. Then us blog readers and lurkers (me!) can discuss via comments what we’re reading now, and going to read given all the closings. I need some new ideas, getting pretty tired of the same old same old.
Christina
Oops, I meant WERE there issues before that one…see, I’m so upset, I can’t spell anymore!
Christina
Totally sad. When Cottage Living folded they sent me a letter telling me I’ll get Sunset as a replacement. Haven’t received my first copy yet, though. I have heard rumors that Lucky will replace Domino; I stopped my subscription to Lucky about 2 years ago because I thought all the models and the fashion felt the same every month.
Domino is the best! This breaks my heart. I have all the issues staring with Spring/Summer 2005, and I go back to them all the time. Where there issues before that one?
Lynn
I’m totally bummed. I just threw a bunch out…thinking there will be more to replace them. Yikes, what publication will everyone now read? I’m at a loss to find another good one.
Asia
Does anyone know where I can get back issues of Domino? I’ve only started collecting them!
fabiola
For those of us with subscriptions, I believe if you cancel in the next few weeks, you should be getting your last issue AND also a check with $$ for any remaining part of your subscription. That’s what I’m going to do. Just extended thru 2011!! Had a few free subscriptions from the Domino “Book of Decorating” that came with it.
There goes my Deco file..boo-hoo! By the way, I also bookmark via “Kaboodle”, TheFind.com (love it!) and ShopStyle.
amychristina
what?! why am i only hearing of this now…? boo. i’ve been so happy w/my subscription!
lauren
where did you get your information from? as a die-hard domino (and blueprint!) fan, i’m really hoping you’re wrong . . .
i love your style, by the way!
Paula
I cried when I read this. I was an avid subscriber and collector of the decorating magazines – my hubby never understood. We lost our home to Hurricane Ike, and of course, there went my collection. We were living in the youth room at our church until we found this one bedroom apartment (which now seems enormous). I promised him no home magazines until we got “home”, though I have been hitting the websites and bookmarking ideas. Guess I better get him out of the house and start printing what I can. I am thrilled to have found your website!
Belinda
Total devastation! More so because it hits home when you work for a similar title – hopefully Real Living is safe as, er, houses but you’re all welcome to buy a suscription to up our numbers just in case! ha!
Mandy
I just subscribed to as a xmas present to myself – I am still awaiting my first issue! I am sad :(
Julie
No I just suscribed and was anxiously awaiting my first issue!
So sad!
CariAnn
What are we going to do?!!!! It’s nice to have a network that feels the same way I do. No one really understands how sad this is but bloggers like all of you.
coral
Boo.
I’ve had every single issue of both domino and blueprint but I cut them up after tiring of having stacks and stacks of mags taking residence in my house. I’m going to miss all the color and digging through past issues whenever I’m looking for inspiration on certain projects. I can’t imagine finding another magazine I will love as much as those two.
marcy wacker
uggh. this has been all over the blogosphere the past couple of days and while i am so sad, i’m not surprised. along with the rest of you i was devastated by the demise of blueprint and cottage living (plus h&g and country home…etc.) what’s next?
bungalowbliss
This is tragic, for sure.
Claire
I mourn with you…sad! But congrats on having the entire collection!
CHIC Sensibility
Wow I thought I was bad. You gotta love Domino. Put it this way. My cat’s name is Domino. No kiddng. We’re obsessed (in a good way)he he.
tammy
I’m sorry, I think this may be my fault… I just FINALLY got a subscription to Domino instead of just buying it at Borders. Last year it was Blueprint, and the year before that, Martha Stewart Kids.
I am a magazine albatross.
Brooke
Wha?!? Oh no! That’s my only subscription! This is just a scary replay of when Blueprint went away. Bummer!
Ali
Seriously, this is such a bummer.
donna
Hopefully something will come along to fill the void and maybe it will be as cool as Domino was when it first started. It lost its way a bit imo. Still, I will be disappointed not to see it in my mailbox. We just lost a pretty fantastic Canadian mag (Wish magazine) too. All we have left are Canadian House & Home, Style at Home and Canadian Home and Country magazine. Check them out.
Kristin
I should have seen this coming! My subscriptions are dying off faster than the dinosaurs!
Jenny
UGH! First, Cottage Living, my all-time favorite, then Home Companion, plus Blueprint, and back in the day, Martha Stewart Kids (which I luckily have every issue of)…Where will it end?! And I am an obsessed, extremely avid reader of such magazines; they are on many a shelf and in plenty of baskets throughout our house, and I refer to them time and time again. What a bummer.
Jennifer
I’m thouroughly heart broken over this. We just got our new house. Where am I going to look for inspirations?
CH
I heard rumors about this, and went ahead and paid for my three year subscription anyway!!! Now what am I supposed to do? man….
Alison
Hi there … just found your blog, and I just wanted to say I think it’s really great … oh and I totally loved Blueprint and Domino, too — I was crushed when I heard the news. If Lucky folds, I think I might have a stroke. Anyway, looking forward to reading!
heather fuentes
i am SO sad! i am furiously downloading stuff from the site now!
Amanda Elizabeth
oh man! your shelf looks very similar to mine, I think I need a support group for my “no longer published” magazine collection :( Cottage Living just sent me a letter saying that what was left of my subscription is now Country Living, any ideas what subscribers will get instead? When Jane went under I got glamour, talk about awkward!!! :(
Fiona
That makes me so mad. I loved Blueprint, too. Domino was either fabulous (the J.Crew creative director issue, for example) or so-so, but even the so-so was better than most other magazines. I also really liked Cottage Living. So sad!
Deidre
Couldn’t they at least ween us off by continuing to post the website? And, what’s going to happen to My Deco file?! Sooo distressing.
Sadie A
Whyyyyyy God? Whhhhyyyyyy?
Natalie M.
NO! I hadn’t heard, and now I’m heartbroken.
fabiola
I’m going to begin mourning right this minute!! Incredibly heartbreaking…
My boyfriend never understands why it is that I must keep every Domino issue I currently own (about 25), but now I am so happy that I have them. I thought the latest issue was lacking a bit and now I understand why.
Very sad day!
Katrina Doe Parker
This is insanity! I was so thrilled when those two mags came on the scene because the US was due for some really great interior/style design mags. I had a subscription to BOTH & now all I have are Elle Decoration & Living, Etc. but they’re both out of the UK so I have to buy them in the store. (Don’t even get me started on Elle Decor, which, in my opinion, is quite sub-par compared to the rest.) We have a subscription to Dwell but, although it’s great in it’s own right, it’s no Domino or Blueprint.
I am truly devastated.
D
What sad a horrible news. I did not know this.
Jennae @ Green Your Decor
I know! I LOVED Domino! Blueprint too. This is a sad day for the magazine business :(
beth
Wahhhhhhhhhh! And as a magazine publisher, this news hurts me for two reasons. Phfffffffffft.
Kerry
This really is a bummer — Blueprint . . . ah, what memories!
Kandice
I can’t believe this! First Blueprint now this??!! I can’t take much more of this! What’s next on the chopping block? Bust? VenusZine? I guess I should be content with cosmo and Veranda!!! Seriously Nicole, you should start your own magazine and bring some light at the end of this tunnel.
Nicholle
That IS a disappointment. However, I will use this as weight in the argument (with my wife) to keep my back issues of Interior Living, Dwell, and Architectural Digest. She thinks I’m insane to keep stacks of old magazines (and she’s an architect!).
Blondie
I can’t believe it! I just picked up my February issue yesterday! First Blueprint, then Mary Engelbreit Home Companion and now Domino!
I’m devastated!
PS I’m a longtime lurker, first time commenting, Love Love Love your blog!
Stacy
Two great magazines – so sad to see them go. I am not a huge magazine person to begin with – but these two were exceptions. Thank goodness for blogs like yours to keep my creative juices flowing!
Alexandra Gibson
It really is too bad. When House and Garden folded, they replaced that subscription with Domino. Now what will they replace our Domino subscription with?!
Christine
Your shelf looks so familiar.. I’ve got my Blueprints and Dominos all lined up with many folded corners and paper scraps poking out.
Sad day.
Danielle Melnyczenko
damn the recession. damn it all to hell. I collect Real Living Magazines. I’ve got about 4 years worth. I liked blueprint but they didn’t sell it on the shelves here, I had to make do with online.
Kerry
It’s depressing to think that a small (and cheap!) little pleasure is being taken away. *sigh* Anyone have any ideas for a similar magazine out there?
morgan
ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME! This is the worst week ever! My mom just bought a subscription! I lost my cat on Sunday and now this…grrr!
JuliaL
What! The Domino Site gone too?! The magazine was bad enough, but this is just… I don’t even have the words! What about my deco file?! This can’t be happening…
~amy~
This is sooo sad, love that mag…seems to be the unfortunate trend with print these days…
kelly
UGH. I have every issue and my blueprints too. I’m so sad to see it go. Now I only get one magazine delivered. Poo!!
Dionne C
This is so sad!
josh (in wonderland)
—sigh—
i just ordered a subscription recently, and haven’t even begun to get them yet. i wonder what will become of my order.
i’m really not worried about the $10—but rather about losing a good magazine.
Megan E.
Oh gosh, I am insanely jealous of your amazing collection. Now I’m really kicking myself for everytime I passed their issues on news stands without buying.
.amanda.
their website is great! I am always going there for inspiration!
ugh, ugh, ugh!
katelynjane
Everyone is mentioning this! We’re all heartbroken!!
Making it Lovely
I haven’t heard anything about Country Living. I have heard that the Domino website will be gone too though, and possibly quite soon.
Sue @ My Party of 6
Domino and Cottage Living in the same month? So.very.very.sad. Do you know if Country Living is also folding? I thought I read they are, but they just sent me an invoice. :-(
Alta Marie
Totally devastated. Do you think that they’ll maintain their online presence?
Taylor
I saw this coming as Domino was sending out lots of surveys, I suppose to gage where the magazine should go next, and that was my first clue. What will happen? They will probably extend our issues to another magazine.
Sad to see it go, as well. I’ve been with them since day one but I have not kept the issues. I pass them along to my mom to read and share with her friends.
Lucky is still doing strong *knock on wood* but Cargo came and went and now Domino, which lasted longer than I thought and I’m glad for that. Who knows about Cookie as I am childless.
i suwannee
M, i have two of most issues. email me, we can talk.
Making it Lovely
I can’t sell them — I love them too much!
M
I will pay you a small fortune for your Domino collection! I’ve only started collecting recently and eBay has proven to be a terrible source for Domino past issues.
.amanda.
ugh, its so depressing, is it not!?
and I was beginning to feel guilty keeping my 50+ issues..
le sigh..
Brooke
Please, say it isn’t so-I hadn’t heard! I am so disappointed!!!! That was my favorite magazine-at least I saved all my issues.
casey
WHAT!!!!!!!! I hadn’t heard that! I had Blueprint too, and was sad to see it go, now Domino?! that sucks.
Rosemary
Ah! Me too! When Blueprint closed, my only consolation was “At least I still have Domino.”
:(
Thank god I saved all those issues!
Joy
:( I’m gonna go cry now…just as I did with Blueprint…around this time last year! :(
dv
=( i just died a little inside
kim@dti
I’m totally heartbroken.
