I’ve done a few of these Little Style / Big Style posts before, and it’s always easier to match along gender lines. Mother and daughter, or father and son are fairly easy, but I found a cute mama/son option.
The ladies’ sweater is from Old Navy (sold out online, but I’ve seen it in stores), and the little boys’ sweater is from Target. I just ordered the little version for August, but I wore the other one when I was out shopping yesterday. The ladies at J. Crew and Madewell each wanted to know where they could get one too. So, you know, success.

Thanks so much for these! I bought those, as well as a cute fox design sweater (I think it’s mixed with pink & orange stripes? – can’t find it online) from H&M, and my husband has a fox shirt from threadless. We’re ready for our family portrait! =)

This is cute, but I think you’ve gone off the deep end. I liked your decorating posts way back in 2008. Now, your writing for a magazine, which is great, but you’ve become more vapid, more of a stuff shirt, and further from yourself than you probably ever wanted to be (cashiers at a bookstore, um sorry, “booksellers,” dream of being literary authors, not of writing silly posts about mother-daughter glasses and outfits). It’s a general trend in these times – surfaces have value, for some odd reason, since it doesn’t take much to shop and move stuff around — but I can’t help but feel a little sorry for you.

Why do I envision Darcy in that sweater scene in “Bridget Jones Diary?”…but this sweater is a lot cooler and I would gladly wear it around a party! Got to get an Old Navy and Target stat…thanks for posting, otherwise I wouldn’t have known about them.

I ordered the fox, owl, and sheep from Old Navy. I couldn’t stop myself! I can’t walk through a store wearing any of them without being stopped to ask where I got them. Total Old Navy win.

Arrrrrrrgh I had that sweater in my shopping bag for over a week because I kept waiting for them to add more stuff I like so that I could get free shipping…..BUT NOPE. It and the owl one are both gone. Honestly I wasn’t that into the owl sweater but I would totally have bought it as a consolation prize.

I just got the old navy one in the mail and it really is so cute. I was kind of worried since their yarn can be hit or miss, but the quality seems pretty good on this one. I’m doing a craft fair this weekend and think I’ll wear it there!

That’s really cute – I do love the foxes. If you want to go for a navy/white stripe, there’s another mother-son combo. Mum’s top comes from Gap (the Bowery striped crew), and son’s is from Jojo Maman Bebe (the Breton stripe long sleeve). With no baby girls to dress in this house, it’s nice to see some ways to get all matchy-matchy with my little boy! :)
