Have you seen the New York Times’ Snowfall article? It’s an interesting presentation — one that is really inspiring me right now. (My Honor Roll posts — like this one — were my first experiment with a different post format. I’d like to do more, experiment more.) And here’s what it means, for the NYT and the rest of the internet, moving forward. [via Laure Joliet]

Something else inspiring: Slow Blogging. So many of us seem to be heading in this direction, happy to slow down the frenetic pace of everything. I like it.

Blogging and getting paid. (I don’t agree with all of Holly’s points, but it’s still a good read.)

All right, it seems like everyone is getting awfully introspective as the year comes to a close. But tell me, how do you really feel?

For those about to Mingle Bell Rock, I salute you. (And again, from another perspective.)

I put together 5 looks for New Year’s Eve, and each complete outfit is under $100. (Also, hello Alt Summit attendees — you may want to take a peek!)

Want to pick up something more for the kids, but not another toy? Here are the best books to give.

And speaking of books for kids, have you seen these literary board books? Brilliant.

Make your keyboard happy! Would you go for the DIY washi tape version, or the ready-to-go decals?

Sweet Paul’s Holiday Countdown is pretty wonderful.

I’ve been testing out a new camera, which I have now come to think of as the Instacamera.

I just wanted to drop you a comment to let you know how much I love your blog. It (and you) rock! Happy holidays.
Thank you. Happy holidays to you, too.
As a long-time reader of your blog, it made me super excited to see Spiderwick on your list of books. Thank you!
Thank you for the blogging stuff, I love it! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas! :)
Hi Nicole! Thanks for including my post in your awesome roundup. :) it’s funny, I’ve been looking through graphic design books for the past few days thinking about creative ways to put together blog posts. I want to do something fun! :) The New York Times piece looks amazing. Did you have a chance to check out the Pitchfork link from the story on The Atlantic? It’s stunning.
Yes — stunning is a good word for it. I’m excited about the future of online design! I hope we see more unconventional layouts, but there’s a noticeable lack of advertising on the pages, making a complete switch unsustainable. I think the larger sites are relying on these articles to bring buzz and traffic over to the standard sites, replete with ads.
I love that New York Times article. I’d like to see more digital magazines take that approach. I’ll have to check out the Atlantic article.
I just discovered your blog and really like what you’re doing. Look forward to seeing more in 2013!
WOW. That NYT article stunned the living daylights out of me. Not just the story, but the incredibly captivating way it was presented. Way to go, NYT and thanks for sharing, MIL.
Oh my word, those board books are amazing!!! I need all of them!
