August requested a Star Wars birthday party this year, switching after initially wanting it to feature dinosaurs. (I think Brandon was just as excited about the theme as the guest of honor was.) Our party decorations consisted of balloons, and many, many Star Wars toys. Everywhere. A lot of them were Brandon’s, from when he was a kid.
His backpack’s got jets. He’s Boba the Fett.
And Eleanor is a young Jedi with the eye of the tiger.
I tried to get the cat, Kili, in on the action too. Those Yoda ears didn’t stay put for long.
We had soup and sandwiches, followed by cake of course. Han Solo frozen in carbonite = best birthday cake ever. (Reuter’s always does a great job.)
Our little guy is three!

Oh this is great! Interestingly enough, my fiance’s 30th birthday party was Star Wars themed.
I have one of those partners too. :) Mine’s not hardcore Star Wars, but it’s entirely possible we’ll have an RPG-themed party someday.
Wow! It all looks great. I especially love the cake. My soon-to-be 3 year old son keeps asking for a “white raisin” party (AKA the yogurt covered raisins that are his favorite treat). Somehow, I don’t think it will look anywhere nearly as amazing. Got any ideas, though?
I love that kids ask for the weirdest things. So… lots of white ovals all over, like polka dots?

That…CAKE! Was that supposed to be a little Han Solo in the icing? Or, was it supposed to depict August? Either way, the concept and detailing was really clever.

This is so cute. My oldest brother (he will be 50 this March) has every Star Wars toy he was ever bought since the 70’s and a large amount he’s collected on his own throughout his adulthood. This brings back so many memories for me from my youth. Every Christmas Eve he would do “puppet” shows using his action figures. Oddly enough, Princess Leia was always cooking breakfast for all he men. LOL! It was the 70’s.

Adorable kids/great job! I love the cake. I remember my early birthday parties fondly. The extra effort that parents put in to make parties unique (which is different from over the top/expensive) will always be appreciated – especially if August & Eleanor go on to have their own children.
The cat, however, is plotting revenge…
ahhhh, my little man turns three on the 18th. I remember sitting and reading your blog post right after August was born and being jealous you were done being pregnant while I sat there all bloated and feeling disgusting :)
