Yes, I finally found (and bought) wallpaper for the dining room. I’m thrilled, but I have a feeling that some people will not like my choice nearly as much as I do!
First, let me share my absolute favorite wallpaper. It’s in a photo from Veer, so there’s no actual information available on it.
Now, the wallpaper I bought:
I love it! Love it love it love it. It’s a little Wary-Meyers-esque, no? It’s vintage 60s wallpaper from U-Turn Vintage Wallpapers on eBay.
The lighting is not as good as it is in the Veer photo (which is a $450 photo), but I think this is about as close to my mystery wallpaper as I’m going to get. Unless, miraculously, one of you has a source?

Nicole for to cover a wall with fabric just as you would with wallpaper you simply match the design up at the seams.
Here are some simple directions online: http://www.rentaldecorating.com/quick_fix_fabric_on_walls.htm

Ack! Kate! Now I wish I had bought that wallpaper. Hmmm… I still love the pattern I bought though.
How does one deal with seams when applying fabric to the walls? Don’t you have to run ribbon or some other trim all over the place? Forgive my naiveté, but I’ve only seen the process done on Trading Spaces (oh, that Hildi).
Neat rug, iloveupstate, but maybe too psychedelic for me.
Oh, and Julieta, I didn’t mean you specifically when I said “some people”. I’m not surprised that you don’t really like it though! ;)

I have another question thats a bit off topic, but all of you seem to know a lot about fabric, so I was hoping you could help. I love the Uptown Couch fabric that Nicole is using for curtains in her office and I planned to use the same fabric for my guest room but, of course, now that I’m ready to start working on that room…reprodepot no longer carries the fabric. Any idea where I could find it? Thanks!!
Kate
Sara — thanks for the tip! It sounds so easy, I might just have to give it a try.
Julieta
If by “some people” you were referring to me…BINGO! ;) That’s a whole lotta flowers. But you know what? You’ll put it on your walls and it will look fabulous and current and chic. In your dining room. Not in my dining room. Because, again, that’s a whole lotta flowers.
Are you [gulp] papering all four walls? Can you do that photoshop thing you do so we can get a sneak peek at the floral splendor that will be your dining room?
Sara
Kate, to use fabric on the walls you would just soak the fabric in liquid starch and smooth it onto a clean wall. It has the added benefit that it’s easily removable and can even be changed for the seasons with no messy residue.
As for the wallpaper, it’s not to my taste, but we’ve all got to make our homes our own, right?
Ann
oh my god. I’m almost positive that my grandparents’ bathroom was done in the exact wallpaper you bought. I’m having mega deja-vu here. They had a deep pink bathtub that was so big, I always felt like I was swimming as a kid.
Kate
Have you thought about maybe using fabric instead of wallpaper. I have no idea how you would do it, but it would add some great texture and maybe a richer look than paper. Ebay store, Charming Fabric Shoppe has some really pretty ones, including the (in)famous Kaufman.

Wow! The fabric/fashion industry can be so underhanded.
Look!
Lili
Its Robert Kaufman. Its an older print – i had it last fall. Its discontinued now, and one of my fabric suppliers is selling it by the bolt for about $60 for 15 yards.
Fabric designers using vintage designs was recently uncovered after a big stink about an amy butler print. They use old designs that are no longer copywrited and modify them slightly.
Heres a post that shows the original print and the amy butler.

and a post from amy describing the designer process:

Anyways, i have some of this fabric, and when i find it ill take a better picture so you can really compare.

wow! That is fantastic wallpaper! Then, maybe you’re right, and you should paint your stairwell something like BM “Da Vinci’s Canvas”…
