Here in So-Cal those chain links fences would be bending from the weight of flowering vines...can you do that in your zone? Love your pathway, too. We're lining ours with herbs and vegetables, but ours runs parallel to a wall.

Really? I think it's one big expanse of UGLY. I think there are some flowering vines that would grow here. They'll die off each winter and look dead though! I think I'd have to check with the neighbors too.
