    I recently needed to alter a chorus dress for my daughter. That was a HUGE undertaking! I had no idea how to do it, and no sewing machine, so I had to do it by hand!

    Besides the nursing dresses, kids book, and spoon rest, (I have one) this is the BEST honor roll ever. I have forwarded several things already. To always be prepared for company: Measure your table. Know your tablecloth size. Whenever you see a sale, or a ridiculously cheap cloth, buy one. If it is too big, you can cut it down, or fold it. Plan ahead what looks good with your dishes and the flowers that you grow or buy at the supermarket. You always need one more than you think. After a party, tend to the stains immediately. If you don’t have time soak it in Borateem. Check sales at your fabric stores to get ahead of the tablecloth problem. Always buy extra fabric for napkins. If you are desperate, you can use a brand new sheet, but only for outside. Ann

    for the record, a spoon rest was (and still is) on my wish list. we have a sad, slightly melted tupperware one that we have somehow come to inherit from my mother-in-law, and has sat next to a burner one too many times. i want to go to a little potter’s community here in north carolina and buy a beautiful ceramic one.

    also, i need to learn how to make those beautiful poppy gift accents. Gifted looks incredible and i have to look through every single page over and over.

    I love the dresses, but am I the only one who loves the baby blue table cloth in the first picture? It’s a shame it’s from the gifted guide and not your own picture so you could tell me where you got it from!!

    Sarah – The poppy gift toppers in my cover photo for Gifted Magazine will be appearing as a DIY project on my blog (creature comforts) very soon.

    Jemma – Thanks! The “tablecloth” is actually just a portion of fabric that I picked up at a little fabric shop a few years ago. I wish I knew where to get my hands on some more.
