'F' for Fabric Crafty (& Handy) Pets

A Collar “Cozy”

I made something stupid for Murray this afternoon.

Murray
What’s that boy? Yes, it does look silly.

I sewed a little scrap of fabric into a sort of neckerchief…

Collar & Fabric

And then I closed the middle up and inserted the collar.

Collar Inside Its "Cozy"

Now it’s a collar cozy.

I figured it would be better than the plain black collar Murray’s been wearing, which I suppose it is. Also, the ring for the leash is accessible and his ID tags stick out.

Murray & His New Collar "Cozy"

I should just order a real collar from Lindsay over at Pattern & Paw. Probably this one.

Celadon Mid-Size Dog Collar
Green IS Murray’s color, you know.

For now though, Murray will have to be content with his cozy.

*edit*
Lindsay offered 15% off at Pattern & Paw in the comments, but I thought I’d point it out up here too! Enter ‘nicoleislovely’ at checkout for the discount. Thanks, Lindsay!

Such a cute idea! Murray, you are adorable. I got Tally (my new furry kid) a rolled red leather one from Petsmart or Petco or one of those other generic places.

Sugar wears the grass green version of the Pattern and Paw collar you posted. She has had it for 6 months now and its still in great shape. I really cant speak highly enough of Lindsay’s work. Very well made, solid materials and they seem to fit Sugar great.

Smart idea too! Sugar had a matching green ribbon today.

Well, you know, if you just happen to enter ‘nicoleislovely’ upon checkout, it just might give you 15% off that pretty mint green collar. :) Or any other collar for that matter. ;) Or to anyone else who might be reading this… it’ll be good through the end of the month. :)

Lili – good to hear yours is holding up well and thanks for the comments!! Our kitty gets a new one every couple weeks or so (a diva, that one!), so I don’t really get to test their longevity. hehe.

Murray is too cute, by the way. True puppy dog eyes. :)

That’s so cute, Nicole! Man, if Murray ever did anything naughty, i couldn’t ever get mad at him if he looked at me like that! What’s his personality like? Are the kitties and him getting along well?

I don’t think your collar cozy is stupid at all! In fact, I think it’s fantastic. You could make millions off that. We doggie people love stuff like that and how cool would it be to easily change the look of your dog’s collar without having to change all his/her tags over too! Love it….especially out of some snazzy Amy Butler fabrics.
I can’t wait to see them in your store!

Streaka (and Tighe and Dayton and Rogie) saw Murray’s collar cozy and went green with envy. According to them, it doesn’t look at all silly. (And whippets are the fashion models of the doggy world so they should know!)

(h-oh! I think I see one of the dogs bringing the sewing machine downstairs…

    Adorable!

I have one of Pattern & Paw’s collars for Dax! I just got her the second one down on this page (the blue one with the paw prints). It’s great, and they last a long time (even with Dax trying to eat her collar at every opportunity).

I had really wanted to get a green one, because her last P&P collar (back when it was Lindsay Designs) was green and it just set off her eyes. But they don’t have the green daisy ribbon anymore, and I’m not big on Stripes or Argyle.

    Did someone mention berets?

I am dying to buy this hat for Sugar, but Henry voted against it!

Lili, you HAVE to buy that hat for Sugar!!

Just like I may have to buy this beret for Murray. Or maybe I’ll make one!

He’s doing well, by the way. Thank you all for asking. He is still sick though – he isn’t eating very much and he threw up a couple of times the day before yesterday. Today he’s seeming much more sprightly, and he came upstairs for the first time this morning. Brandon says he came up on his own, but I don’t know if I believe him. ;) Murray was very excited to see me and he wanted to snuggle up on the bed (I was sleeping!).

The cats are pretty used to him now. Kili was the first to accept him, followed quickly by Mabel. Violet was the little scaredy-cat holdout. They don’t want to get TOO close, but they’re not terrified of Murray either.

Aww, Murray looks a lot like our stray pup Walt! He’d just eat a collar cozy I think. Yesterday I found a chewed-up Sharpie on the bed.
