Covetable Style

Style: May ’08

I bought a darling brown and white dress (on sale!), which led me to do some internet window shopping. I had such fun creating my Ladylike outfit a couple of months ago that I thought I’d have another go at it. Perhaps I’ll make it a monthly feature?

Style: May '08

I love big, roomy bags like The Market Bag by moop, and I have those cute Evana Wedge Sandals from Target (very comfortable). I’ve had the Green & Yellow Molecule Necklace by dejarnette new orleans on my wishlist for a little while now, and it would be really cute with the Confectionery Readers from Anthropologie. Then of course, there’s the dress that inspired the whole look, the Striped V-Neck Dress from Banana Republic. Love it! I’m so into brown and white lately, like this new pocket mirror that I designed.

I’m in the mood for some new (prescription) glasses now. I wish they weren’t so expensive…

Beautiful. I’ve been itching for some new specs lately, but all my extra money is going toward my home. So I started resurrecting some of my old pairs. Eh, it’s almost as good.

Love the green brown and yellow color combo. And yes I hear ya, it is unfortunate prescription glasses are so pricey.

I love big bag as well, so much so that sometimes it overwhelms me. But what’s a girl to do?! :)

Oh yes, I would appreciate/love if you could make a monthly feature1 It’s so inspiring. Amber from myaimistrue blog used to have a weekly feature but she doesn’t make them anymore (I suppose she must be very busy with her wedding).

Oh, it looks like somebody bought the bag! Here’s a link to the moop Etsy shop.

Melissa, I try to go back to my old glasses too. It just isn’t the same! I stopped wearing them for a reason. ;)

Jessica, the shoes are canvas so I just don’t wear them in mucky, rainy weather. They’ve held up well so far.

If you want to play around with cheap prescription glasses, check out Zenni Optical. It’s been recommended by a number of people over at Poor Skills a few times, and they seem quite happy. For $8 a pair, it’s a least worth checking out, especially if you’re just “in the mood” for new glasses, and don’t really need new ones.
As always, YMMV. I’m just passing on a tip. ^_^

You should definitely look into getting prescription glasses online if you’re looking for a new look. You can usually get cute, quality glasses for under $50 (including prescription lenses, they’re not just the frames).
This blog is where I did a lot of my research before buying a pair online: http://glassyeyes.blogspot.com/

I’m such a sucker for classic stripes! I really don’t think you can go wrong with a dark color and white stripes on a classic silhouette like a wrap dress or a 3/4 inch tee. Love this look!

Somone beat me too it but I have a friend that used glassyeyes.blogspot.com to get some new glasses and she said it was really easy. They look cute on her too.

You should definitely make this a monthly feature. (I’ve been reading for a while, and this is my first comment.) I love that brown dress, and I’m tempted to buy it myself. However, at the Banana website, I can see that the stripes go horizontally across the back. I’m afraid this won’t be the most flattering, as I’m a big girl (size 14/16), so I’m still debating. The front of it is just adorable, though. I love it paired with the yellow accessories.

This is so fun. Love the dress. Such a flattering silhouette. So into yellow and green right now and the brown is a nice sophicticated touch. And the glasses, must get the glasses!
