Eleanor’s a very snuggly baby. It’s really sweet, but I’ve not accomplished much lately other than perfecting the art of being a human pillow and milk supplier.

Me and Eleanor

Hopefully soon we’ll find our rhythm. In the meantime, I’ve been enjoying this time with her.

I’ve been checking in here too… I’ve read each and every comment on my last post announcing Eleanor. It’s amazing to hear from so many people all over the world! Thank you.

Oh my goodness, I have the same burger king “return of the jedi” glass at my house…..it was from my childhood and now a treasured possession of my husband’s. Eleanor is absolutely beautiful!

  • We just had our first, two weeks after you. I so know the feeling of being a pillow and milk machine, ours is quite the snuggler also. I’m sure you will figure out each other soon. :)

  • Congratulations & welcome to this cute little girl from France.

  • We’ll vote for your porch. You just take care of your little one. You’ll have time for your blog in a few weeks. It took me about 6 weeks to get used to having my little girl and regaining enough energy to focus on other things.

  • Barbara Brazil

I loved that picture. My little one was born when I was 38 and it took me a while too to leave my daily schedule behind, work and all those daily’s to-dos. And I swear, Bianca is almost 5 now and I already miss it … Enjoy! She is soooooooooooo cute!

She is beautiful. Never ever feel guilty for this time with her. Dirty dishes and bills are forever, but Eleanor’s babyhood is a beautiful, irreplaceable gift that goes very quickly. The picture of you two enjoying each other is wonderful. Congratulations!

    What a lovely photo!!!

  • This is so awesome.

  • Really beautiful baby.

  • She is such a beautiful baby!!! Congrats again :)

  • Fiona

I second Meta’s comment, if only to reassure you if you are finding anything difficult, although of course, I hope you aren’t. The time does fly, and no, you are pretty much unable to do much else, which is fine. That said, try to get out as much as you can, even in the yard, just because summer is on its way and if it’s really hot, you may not take advantage later.

  • ahhhh. those were the times I miss the most. it is lovely having your baby all to yourself and holding her and loving her. seeing the sweet little face right there snuggled close. she’s the best mother’s day present you could have!

  • you both look so peaceful and content :) enjoy your first mother’s day tomorrow and all the days ahead!

  • Adorable.

As a mother of two, I might mention that the first few weeks, are rough. . .and over before you know it. My youngest is just about to crawl and I feel like I just brought her home from the hospital!!

Sleep and shower when you can, and remember that she will never go back to being this small, so ingrain it in your mind by gazing at her often.

  • She’s just beautiful. Enjoy those precious first days. They fly by. You’ll have forever to do everything else. I’ve been wondering about you this week. Glad it’s going well:)

I forgot to comment on your last post, so – congratulations!

  • Rebekah

Oh, there is no greater accomplishment! Treasure these days. They may seem long when you are in the midst of them, but they are so, so few.

  • Ah, but see you are accomplishing the most important thing you can possibly accomplish – the bonding of mother and child. Enjoy this time with Eleanor and take the opportunity to rest when you can. Motherhood is 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and there is nothing better than snuggling with your wee one. Happy first Mother’s Day to you.

  • I love all the colors of this picture…beautiful! Happy Mother’s Day!

  • Aww, look at her holding your finger. So precious. Happy mother’s day Nicole!

  • Take time off! Ill still be here when you get back!

    HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

  • Happy first mother’s day!!

  • Sarah

Well think of this non-productive time as a requirement for your new job of being a momma. Enjoy the moments of needed rest and interaction with your baby–the hectic pace of regular life will return soon enough!

  • What a sweet picture. I read a book called Baby Wise (link below) and it really helped me and my little one get into a great routine. By 8 weeks he was sleeping through the night.

However you approach it enjoy this time and enjoy the rest you can get in-between. She is beautiful and you look great!

I’ve been reading your blog regularly for the last few months. never commented before. wanted to stop for a moment and say thank you for putting out an exceptional blog and glad you are enjoying the precious first few days, and thank you from taking time out of the to update and let everyone know things are going well. she’s beautiful. absolutely gorgeous. and you’re looking like quite the radiant mom too, btw.

  • Snuggly babies are the best!
The only way I got things done when my son was a newborn was if (1) family or friends came over and snuggled with him, or (2) wore him in a baby carrier like the Moby Wrap.

  • This picture makes me happy :)

  • Emma Woo

Just enjoy yourself. I have baby number 2 on the way in November and know that I won’t have the time to devote to snuggling that I had first time round. Milk it for all it’s worth (excuse the pun)!
