Homegrown Tomatoes

Another item off the 30 Before Thirty list: 25. Grow tomatoes. Done!

Tomatoes from my Garden

And they are delicious.

Tomatoes from my Garden

I’d better get moving on the rest of my list though. I have less than two months to go and still 19 items to complete. Yikes. And here I thought I was making good progress…

I love fresh tomatos. I too grow them at home and taste so much better than in the stores.

I suggest a pillow-case based dress for #8. There’s lots of super cute and easy patterns out there. Just google and you should find several different styles. Here’s one: http://www.jenleheny.com/pillowcase-dress-instructions

These look delicious – now I know what I am having for lunch!

I think this weekend you should tackle that last one on your list (its the end of the world) Just goggle the lyrics and start singing away! It could even be a fun family event… I always love when my husband and I have “dance night.” Break out a bottle of wine, turn up the tunes and let loose in the living room! Woohoo! Sometimes its just the best medicine. :)

Pretty tomatoes! I am growing tomatoes, too, this year, and it is so rewarding when they actually start to fruit. Congrats to crossing one more off the list!

  6. ChristineNo Gravatar says:

Those look so squishy and delicious.

  7. nicelleNo Gravatar says:

Great job! They look really tasty. I love homegrown tomatoes (much better than store-bought) and this year I grew them on my patio in pots. It worked but the best ones grew in our compost pile, by accident!

Yum. Think of all the things you can use those babies for when they are in your backyard! I, too, have a list on my blog that needs some major love before I turn 28. Good luck! xoxo

I’ve done a “things to do at _ list” for about five years now, and though it gets more daunting each year, and I only complete a handful, I really enjoy it. I like the way you are documenting them on your blog, perhaps I’ll do the same with mine!

HEY! I saw that towel at Ikea yesterday and almost bought it! By the way, home grown tomatoes are the best! They melt in my mouth!

  11. Mrs SoupNo Gravatar says:

Oh yum, now I really want a caprese salad…

  12. irisNo Gravatar says:

Oh, you have so much on that list that is doable in a day! You’ll get it done.

  13. ValentinaNo Gravatar says:

I love this item on your list! It’s such a good idea.
I would love to grow my own food, but still can’t do it… (I live in a tiny appartment).
Those tomatoes look soooo fresh and tasty!
I want to eat some right now, but where I live is winter, so we don’t have much.

Good luck with the 19 items to complete!

wow, they look beautiful on the vine!!!
we made a go at growing tomatoes this year and are having a harder time than we thought we would. the vines have faded to a yellow green, we water everyday!? any advice you might have on how you got yours to be so pretty and delicious would be lovely ;-)

  15. HollyNo Gravatar says:

    Awesome! They look great!

  16. JakkiNo Gravatar says:

they look gorgeous and delicious! I love gardern tomatoes but never have good look growing them myself..

Just making the list puts you ahead of most people.

Your list inspired me to make a list, until I realized I would have to make a 50 before fifty list. I don’t have the intestinal fortitude to ever consider that yet! Thus, I made a “things that can’t wait for my kids to grow up” list.

You are making GREAT progress and this is so darn impressive!

  19. MartinaNo Gravatar says:

These look fabulous! Mine are always green on the top when the rest of the tomato is ripe. Do you have a trick? Maybe it’s the variety. What kind are you growing?

  20. Your motherNo Gravatar says:

    Yum!

  21. Congrats! I’m impressed. I kill everything!

  22. there is nothing like fresh from the garden tomatoes with salt and pepper (and maybe a little feta or mozz!)

  23. TeresaNo Gravatar says:

It doesn’t get much better than that!! Yumm! My son likes to eat the little plum ones straight from the vine. It pays to grow your own. They are so much better than store bought. Now I’m hungry.

  24. KayleeNo Gravatar says:

    Yum! They are beautiful!!!!

  25. holy cow, those are gorgeous! i love serving tomatoes with just a little bit of salt and pepper. or just a simple tomato sandwich– chop ‘em up, a bit of mayo, s&p.

  26. BlondieNo Gravatar says:

Those tomatoes look fantastic but the rest of your list is scary! :)

  27. Your MotherNo Gravatar says:

mmm, add a little basil and mozzarella, salt and pepper, and some good olive oil – caprese salad!

  28. AnjaNo Gravatar says:

yummie! My tomatoes are still green. And i guess they´ll mature just when i´m away for vacations.
One thing i don´t get used to is that someone on the other side of the world owns the same dishtowel like me ;-)

AAAND: you probably can´t remember my comment on the swallow mobile you showed recently. I found them in an online-shop in the Netherlands. And three days ago, they arrived at my place. Hooray! So, thanks for this great find. I´ll post it as soon as it´s hung up as well as the wallpaper which is still on it´s way from the UK to Germany.

  29. CJNo Gravatar says:

Congratulations! They look so delicious! We have tomato plants too, but yours are looking more alive :)

  30. GraceNo Gravatar says:

Can’t wait until mine ripen. Almost there!

  34. GwendolynNo Gravatar says:

    Beautiful tomatoes!
You’re doing great with your list! I wish I had done the same before I turned 30. I guess I could do a ’40 before 40′ hah!

  35. Omigoodness – these look so delish!

  36. kristinNo Gravatar says:

great job on those tomatoes! yum!

  37. taraNo Gravatar says:

Progress, smogress. Who can get work done when there are garden tomatoes to consume. I love to slice cherry tomatoes in half and drizzle them with a bit of balsamic. I think growing your own tomatoes should count as at least 5 things on your list!
