My Life

Oh, Friday

Today is turning out to be kind of a mixed up day for me. Plans fell through, my work hours have changed, etc. I’m going to get as much done as I can, and as quickly as I can, and then I’m taking the rest of the day off. A good plan for a Friday, yes?

So… Have you been watching this season of Design Star? This year’s format has been odd but I’m glad that Emily, my favorite designer, is in the final two. Did you see her room from last week? It was the best one of the season.

I hope she wins the whole thing. Emily has a blog too; I just found out recently.

I’ll see you back here on Monday and I’ll have a pretty neat giveaway for you. If you’re at all crafty (or even if you just aspire to be), you’re definitely going to want to win.

I haven’t been a fan of this season’s format of Design Star either. I loved the individual challenges of past seasons, and find all the group challenges of having to find inspiration of food, flowers, instruments, etc., to be weird.

Emily has definitely been my favorite as well, and I love her room last week. Had no idea she had a blog – definitely adding it to my reader. Thanks!

I’m rooting for Emily, too. I agree this season’s format is odd – and the strange challenges haven’t resulted in very good designs. Maybe the finale will make up for it!

i really love her work! she has been my favorite designer the whole season, no doubt due to her eclectic, bohemian style.
this season’s format is weird. i mean, group challenges and barely any hosting videos [except for the losers]?

emily’s my favorite too. I love her show concept of using your wardrobe as inspiration for a room. That definitely is different from the shows currently on HGTV.

I loved Emily’s room! It was so distinctive and memorable – in all kinds of good ways. (And I agree about the format changes. I miss the individual challenges where you get to know each designer’s style outside of “Well, so-and-so brought in this piece of furniture as their signature piece.” What happened to those individual little cubicles they decorated??!)

The hubby totally called it ahead of time… we were BOTH in <3 with her room! Now to get her to come to my house, for a chat {about my house} and a cup of coffee ;)

I was alternately appalled/disappointed with this season of Design Star until this episode. Emily was my favorite from the beginning (I loved her outfit on the first show so kind of ironic), and I just really liked this room, particularly the contrast of the green couch against the blue and white fabric. I also thought the console she built was a great diy idea that she should have played up.

I thought this challenge proved how just how insane the concepts for the previous episodes were. By reverting to this old challenge (David Bromstad won for his glass box), they really allowed the designers to show what they could do.

Weird, weird season on Design Star, I agree. What I have been perplexed about this entire season is why they keep giving them silly little challenges in groups- shouldn’t they be showing off what they can do as individuals?! That being said, I love Emily too! Best room by far last week- loved the blue fabric wall! Crossing my fingers that she wins tonite :) xoxox! -Holly

I’m glad about Emily, they made the right choice! Michael was so fake. I’m just a little confused by the fact that her show is supposed to be new and different, but it’s the exact same format as Dress my Nest. how do they not know that?
