I was in the Oak Park Fourth of July Parade with my Derby Lite ladies yesterday! August is too little to be away from mama for too long, so I walked the parade with him in a mei tai.
Brandon took these photos while watching from the sidelines with Eleanor. More highlights from the parade below…

Happy birthday, America.

Happy 4th of July! Good way to participate & care for August. Hope you had a great time!
Looks like a fun parade!
I must say, your hair looked awesome!
Ha! I LOVE the library ladies with their carts!
Brandon said that they did a whole choreographed routine with them!
That. Is. Awesome.
That’s totally a librarian thing – I think they have a contest every year at ALA (the big library conference).
a whole choreographed routine? Saucy librarians :) !

Those library ladies look awesome!
This parade looks like so much fun!!! LOVE the library ladies and that your town has an Ernest Hemingway club!! My city does nothing like this. :-/
I think those Belly Dancer’s were in the San Diego St. Patrick’s Day Parade. ;-)
Which leads me to wonder? When did Belly Dancer’s become parade material?
yuppp those library ladies are fantastic…and you too of course!!!
I love it! Thanks for posting these .. I’m from OP originally, but I live in the D.C. area now, so tidbits of home are always welcome. :)
This is so darn cute! I love that you were in a parade:)
I think one of the belly dancers is the vet at the Cat Practice (on Chicago Ave.).
The picture of you next to the “Derby Lite” sign is awesome. When your kids grow up, they will look at that picture and say, “Look how cool Mom was!”
Laughed out loud at the librarians!! I really really love hometown parades, we try to go every year to our Thanksgiving parade here in St. Louis. Shriners in their tiny cars! Giant shopping cart!
Cute Baby Hawk! It’s always fun to see another baby wearing mama out and about with a fun carrier!
My hometown! I love Oak Park…looks like it is still as charming as ever. We now live in LA but are visiting Chicago in 2 weeks and the first place I will go is to Johnnie’s for an Italian beef & lemon ice!
Looks like a great parade! We were in Morton Grove, which, sadly, wasn’t quite as exciting. Beyond a dominatrix-looking color guard from Toledo, a camel, a llama & a pony, it was the standard-issue 4th of July.
You have a fantastic little community – just got that from the parade pictures. I LOVE the librarians with their book carts! So awesome!
