Blue and Green Kitchen

I found this image on my hard drive that I had saved in 2009. Oh, the era before Pinterest! Oh, the folders upon folders of “Some Things I Like!” Oh, the inability to track down where I had gotten the image from.

I don’t like to share unsourced images, so I set to tracking this one down. I finally found it (Remodelista credits the kitchen to a Parisian architect, Phillippe Harden), and was rewarded with additional photos of the space.

I’ve got to get cracking on those curtains in the kitchen so I could play around with the palette in Photoshop. I don’t know that I want to go this colorful, but… maybe I kind of do now? I have to give it some thought.

Lovely, I want to paint a wall in my kitchen (my kitchen is so small there’s basically just one wall to paint) and I’ve been thinking about this green colour, one of my favorites. A wall in my living room is this colour, then I’d like to paint that (but how, how.. ;)), but make the kitchen green instead. It’s a good colour, warm and calming somehow.

Really excited to see what you do.

    PS you’re my paint-superhero, I don’t like painting but you’re an inspiration!

    I.
    LOVE.
    THIS.
Especially in a house your style–this would look amazing!!!

That colour combo is divine, the green especially with those wood countertops. In my last house I painted my lower kitchen cabinets a deep greeny teal/steel grey/blue (it changed in the light, such a great colour) and the difference it made was amazing – I say be bold!

What about Benjamin Moore’s antique coral 1198 for the walls? I think it would look good with the curtains you’re going to make.

    Omg that faucet….!

I almost wonder what the reverse would look like also (green walls and blue cabinets)! Love it!

Oddly, I could have helped. I was reading Remodelista back then and saved it to my bookmarks, which I then went through when Pinterest was invented. This was one of the things I pinned! I feel like the internet was a much smaller place back then.

I know…what did we do without Pinterest? Looking at my Kitchen Ideas board, I realized that I am drawn to neutral kitchens. My plan is to paint ours this summer: gray/slate cabinets and creamy buttery walls. Now if I could only convince my husband that it is OK to paint 20+ year old cabinets…sigh.

Oh, those countertops. Gorgeous. That’s a really lovely blue (both wall and table).

I love this kitchen! I actually have it saved on Pinterest already! Love the colors!

Lol I have that same image saved in my kitchen inspiration file! That green kills me, my heart gets all happy and paired with that soft blue I can’t wait to gut my kitchen!

That green/smokey blue color combo is so sophisticated + unexpected in a kitchen. It’s just beautiful! Thanks for giving me something to Pin :)

What a lovely combo! I’ve need to paint for kitchen for years and was thinking of a blue like that. I have upper and lower light brown cabinets from IKEA – the whole kitchen is IKEA – but I wonder if that green would be too much to do all the cabinets in?

That is a pretty minimalist kitchen, which I could never do. Where would I put my collection of vintage Pyrex sets?

I’ve learned to not be afraid of color and I’m glad I broke out of my fear. That being said, go for it! Those colors are beautiful!

    Nicole,
Could you suggest what color of blue and green paint to buy, if you wanted to DIY this at home?

    Thank you,
    b.

It’s brilliant, fantastic and amazing! I am a sucker for these colours anyway, but the combination in that kitchen, got me dreaming all day. Nough said ;) Thanks for posting and sourcing it! Gx

Those colours work really well together! Also, I think your fabric would be really lovely in that room as the orange chair really sets it off well. Go for it!

I have this same problem! So frustrating!! Except mine are in email drafts I’ve saved to myself. Thanks Pinterest for getting me out of this habit!

Love this! This is something I’d expect to see in your house (compared to the every white kitchen you were considering before). I just realized this color scheme is pretty similar to what you had before – main difference being the blue.

I love that blue on the walls – it’s a really nice looking blue. It’s fun finding those hidden gems that we saved before Pinterest. I’m going through magazines tonight hopefully and getting rid of some old issues and still doing tear sheets if you can believe that.

  22. Kathryn January 25, 2013 at 7:58 pm #

That blue looks similar to the one you recommended in my kitchen, other that the first shot where it looks much greyer. I have some left if you decide to test out other colors.

I have that trouble with unsourced images all the time but a Reverse Image search usually puts me on the right path. Try TinEye.com and http://images.google.com/ (click the camera) if you haven’t already.

Lovely kitchen btw – I can’t wait to see what you do :)

I am also in the process of trasnforming my kitchen. I have a green tile countertop that I don’t like. (you can see it here (http://tobirdsofafeather.blogspot.com/2013/01/kitchen-update.html)… what would you do with that? any ideas?
