Oh that trailer speaks to my soul!

My great-great grandfather was a sign painter, and I wish so badly that I could see his work somewhere. I’ve asked my grandma, and I think most of his work has been destroyed by new construction.

Lettering runs in your family! That lends even more beauty to your calligraphy.

I don’t know if its better but I’m trying Bloglovin’. The transition was painless, it grabbed all my feeds with one click. We’ll see. I may look into feedly. I do like Flipboard but I can’t find a way to add more blogs, it just maintains my Reader feeds.

I like Flipboard on my phone, but I usually read blogs on my computer.

I just switched to Feedly the day before yesterday and I LOVE it so far! It looks so much better than Reader, and you can search for new stuff to add as well as import your Reader feeds. It makes it super easy to customize your categories, too.

My favorite part of Google Reader was the “Next” button that I learned about here. So fantastic. Do any of these new options have anything like that?

Have you checked out Reeder? I like being able to see all the blogs as tiles to choose what blog I want to read. I just loaded Feedly to compare. Haven’t figured out that setting for it yet.

I’m so sad about the reader news, but now that I think about it, I’ve been using reEder on my iPad for the last two years or so, and is pretty good! Maybe I’ll just get feedly for my laptop?

After playing with Feedly I noticed I can’t choose to open a link in safari to explore further, especially useful for shopping sites and clipping content to Evernote. I like the format for seeing the photo for each new post in Feedly, but it doesn’t outweigh the functional performance options.
The “uncategorized” sidebar doesn’t float my boat either,

I’m so excited about the Sign Painters movie! My husband Damon from New Bohemia Signs is in and and we can’t wait to see it! Woo Hoo! Thanks for posting about it, Nicole!

I’ve had bad luck with Feedly. I keep getting a 404 error. I already have a Bloglovin account so I’m thinking I might try that for a while. The import from Reader was super simple and it seems to work a lot like Reader in that I can see a summary of all the new posts or I can click on a specific blog to read my faves (like Making It Lovely) first.

I recently started shopping for an alternative Reader, simply because I bought an iPad. FeedDemon is my FAVORITE for my desktop, but even that is going away.

Here’s why I had to say NO to Feedly: It does not import Google Reader tags and so all of your (already) tagged posts are forever lost. As if that wasn’t a dealbreaker enough – only one tag per post. That’s crazy talk. :-/

I tried Feeddler, boring aesthetic but imports your tags and allows multi-tags if you so desire. But I didn’t like not having the option to scroll through all of my blogs at once (constantly clicking ‘back’ button to select the next item in the list to read is cumbersome).

I looked into NewsBlur. Fantastic look with great features, but no tagging. (Again – dealbreaker).

Finally settled with Mr. Reader. Auto scrolling through all blogs in a folder, multi-tagging (with a quick interface for doing so), several themes for customization. I so hope my search is over – I’ve spent money on a couple of these readers! I need to find out what will happen to my historical Google Reader-tagged posts once they shut down – – whether I will lose them or… ?

I’ve been reading your blog for years now and I don’t want to have a disruption! :)

Thank you so much for making me aware of Sign Painters. My father is a sign painter, and it’s been amazing to see how the art has changed in just the time that I was little and now. I’m sure it’s drastically changed since he began in his 20’s (he’s now in his 60’s). I can’t wait to see if he’s heard about this film and book yet!

Okay, so here’s a question. I love using Flipboard on my iPad, but there’s no desktop version. I need to switch over my Google Reader and I do like Feedly’s desktop platform, but I’m not quite ready to transition to their iPad app (I guess I should probably give it a trial). Does anyone know if it’s possible to link Flipboard and Feedly accounts?

Thank you for the Sign Painter trailer. I can’t wait to show it to my high school art students.
