Crafty Like a Fox Party Theme

This is the third and final baby shower theme I created for a Huggies Pinterest campaign. It’s also my favorite and the most ‘me’ of the bunch. Because I’m so foxy.

Crafty Like a Fox Party

Kidding! I do love the color scheme though, all based around a floral tablecloth by Rifle Paper Co. for BHLDN. This is the tablecloth I’d considered chopping up for kitchen curtains. I’m so glad I didn’t, because now I’ll be able to take it with us and use it in our next house. (As a tablecloth, not curtains! Imagine that.)

Again, these were shot in Tyllie Barbosa’s Chicago studio. And again, my sister-in-law, Portia, assisted me on set. We had the food styling down by this point.

There was a dessert table, too. I made the little bunting flags over the cake, but the cake itself was an off-the-shelf coconut cake from the grocery store.

This is a baby shower theme, so I originally pitched this as “Foxy Mama.” That is apparently too racy? Thus the theme became “Crafty Like a Fox” instead. Naturally, I had to setup a craft station.

And speaking of crafty, another diaper cake. Never did I suspect I’d make a diaper cake in my life, but here’s my third one. I daresay this is something I’m actually good at! Adding it to the resumé.

My creation graced the gift table. The framed tree print you see here was borrowed from Binth for the shoot. They had a beautiful family tree version in their store with calligraphy, but I wasn’t sure how that would fly for photo shoot releases so I used the plain version. The cards on the table are by Binth as well.

This is great, but love the ‘welcome to the world’ globe theme the most! Makes me want to throw a party!

I LOVE this!! So quirky and interesting. I love the colour palette too. Are there links to the products used? I particularly like the dinnerware.

okay, you’re making me okay with diaper cakes. never thought I’d say that! Can I feature this on Disney Baby? I love this whole thing!

Right? I figured that if I was tasked with creating a diaper cake, I was going to make it a good one. (And of course you can share it. Thanks!)

  5. Catherine July 8, 2013 at 3:42 pm #

This is my favorite, too! It could easily be adapted for a dinner or birthday party. So beautiful. :)

  6. Nikki July 8, 2013 at 3:42 pm #

“Foxy Mama” would have been perfect! And I love everything about this theme… so woodland cute, but still sophisticated. (and seriously… what pregnant woman would not want to be called “foxy”?)
Also, please come style my house.

  7. Ashley Pahl @ She Makes A Home July 8, 2013 at 3:55 pm #

Amazing job, Nicole! This is also my favorite of the three. I love the colors and the florals – just gorgeous.

  8. Bethany July 8, 2013 at 4:01 pm #

This is my favorite by far! I really need the wooden fox on top of the diaper cake, and feel like I may have seen it before on an online shop. I can’t remember where though! Anyone know where it is from?
Also, these post always make me hungry! So I think that means the food styling is pretty darn perfect!

Here’s the Moderne Wood Fox! He’s my favorite, though I like the orange guys a whole lot too.

Thank you, Nicole! I remembered that I first saw them on Apartment Therapy when the designers of the animals were featured on a home tour. I’m going to order it now. The sets are so tempting, but eek….out of my price range. So thanks again. My mantle needs that fox!

I can’t decide which I like the best! They were all so well done!

  10. Karen July 8, 2013 at 9:29 pm #

I love them all – they are differentfrom the usual pastel or zoo themes you see so often. My favorite is “welcome to the world.”

  11. Joy | Frock Files July 8, 2013 at 9:40 pm #

This is my favorite of your showers too! I’m in love with that Rifle Paper Co. tablecloth (it would never leave my table) and all the foxes. In fact, I’d love for my office to look festive in just this way all the time!

  12. Catey July 8, 2013 at 9:50 pm #

  14. Jill Browning July 8, 2013 at 11:41 pm #

You knocked it out of the park on this one! Well done! Looks like it came straight out of Martha. Maybe she’ll give you a call. ;)

This one is definitely my favourite! But then I do have an abundance of animal ornaments, so it figures…I’ve been thinking of pink and orange as my bathroom theme, so I may link to this to show how well the colours work together if that’s ok?

  16. Patricia Gates July 9, 2013 at 4:18 am #

This looks like a really fun party theme! The colors nicely blend together and the set up simply looks cute. Thanks a lot for making me hungry all of a sudden with those blueberry cheesecakes though! :P

  17. Sarah July 9, 2013 at 6:18 am #

We just had good friends who named their first son Fox. This would have been a perfect theme! Also, if my husband and I ever do have children (accident though it may be), “foxy mama” will most definitely be our theme!

  18. amyks July 9, 2013 at 7:53 am #

I love them all, but I think this diaper cake is my favorite, where did you get all those mushrooms and flowers that were with the fox? What are they made of they are so precious!

  19. Amanda Joy July 9, 2013 at 8:16 am #

LOVE this one! The omelet buffet….fox in a hen house….so brilliant! It was clear this is your favorite too, there’s so much personality here. And I’d still go with foxy mama ;)

  20. superfresh babypants July 9, 2013 at 8:22 am #

Nicole, the suspense is killing me!!!

  22. Kayla aka Kilo Bravo July 9, 2013 at 12:56 pm #

Absolutely love these last two – and I’m hard pressed to pick a favorite! I will definitely be borrowing one or two ideas from these when it’s my turn someday!

    More importantly:
So when are we gonna see the new house!?!?!? And did you end up with the pink couch? Ahh the suspense!!

  23. Jesse July 9, 2013 at 6:34 pm #

This is adorable! I really like the hanging tissue paper decorations, I have to get my hands on a ton of those, they are just so cheery!

  24. Dessica July 9, 2013 at 9:44 pm #

This makes me so happy. I did my little guy’s nursery in foxes and I never see anything fox themed. I love it!!

  25. Hannah July 10, 2013 at 8:03 am #

Where is that little stuffed fox from? I’d love to get one for my nephew.

  26. Cottage Katie July 10, 2013 at 12:30 pm #

Such a cute idea!!! I don’t understand why “Foxy Mama” is too racy? What is the world coming too? What pregnant, soon to be mom, doesn’t want to be called foxy?
This theme is adorable and I would love to do a birthday party, for ME, in this motif!

  27. Cameron July 10, 2013 at 1:12 pm #

Love this! The paper lanterns and pink accordion stars/flowers are just what I’m looking for for a baby shower I’m hosting! Did you make them or are you willing to share the source?

  28. Laura Beth @ Perched on a Whim July 10, 2013 at 8:41 pm #

Hands down, crafty like a fox theme!!
This theme marries so many lovely colors, patterns, and textures. You are an artist, and I am oh so impressed!

  29. Melissa July 10, 2013 at 11:09 pm #

Hi, Nicole, I definitely love this one most. Do you have a source for those beautiful vases with the mums? Love th colors!

  30. Lauren @ chezerbey July 12, 2013 at 11:52 am #

    This is SO good!

  31. Carrie // cue the confetti July 12, 2013 at 5:47 pm #

This is SO adorable!!! I have always regretted not getting that tablecloth. If you ever want to sell it… let me know ;-) Great job with all 3 showers!

  32. meaghan July 18, 2013 at 6:57 pm #

I love the font you used on the “There’s a Fox in the Henhouse” card. Can you tell me what it is? Thanks!

I’m loving the silver straws! Where are they from?
