Honor Roll

These are the things that have made my Honor Roll.
House of Hackney x William Morris

  • The House of Hackney x William Morris fabric and wallpaper collections feature Morris’ classic patterns, “reimagined and remastered” for today.

  • Cracked Plaster Ceiling | Old Town Home

  • Helpful apps for to-do lists and reminders.

  • I’m thinking about skim coating some of the textured walls and weighing whether I want to do it myself or hire a pro. I know it’s messy work and slow-going. That’s not what has me hesitating — it’s whether I can do a good job or if I’m going to make the walls worse than they are. The series of posts on plaster repair from Old Town Home make it seem doable.

  • Loving both Tim Gunn’s and Stacy London’s take on fashion lately.

  • Too often, my answer to Brandon when he asks what I’m reading or watching a video about, the answer is “North Korea.” Have you seen these illegally taken photos yet? They’re fascinating.

I recommend reading Nothing to Envy (if you haven’t already) if you have a N Korea fascination. Such interesting accounts from escapees compiled by LA Times journalist…. and very readable. I couldn’t stop talking about it to people.

I loved the article by Stacey London! What a trail blazer. She’s on my list of “inspiring people who are older than me and make being older look super cool and badass.”

Listening to Lou this morning and thought of you with your kitchen. He was interviewing them. Very, very cool. http://www.elmirastoveworks.com/

I am always a “you can do it” type person so you can do the skim coat of plaster. We had lots and lots of cracks when we moved in. My husband and I had that mantra with our entire downstairs if our 99yr old home and we tackled that project with lots or research from the interwebs. I thought it was the hardest most tedious thing I had ever done. I didn’t have the patience to make it perfect. The truth is our second phase of renovations is downstairs with updating electric so it will have to be done again. So in reality maybe it didn’t turn out wonderful because I didn’t have the motivation to make it perfect. So…its totally doable, and I know you always do things really well, but it will use up a fair amount of patience…. so store some up.
