The living room’s trim is now white. Our house feels lighter, and all is right. Oh, wait… now the need to paint the dining room ceiling is more apparent than ever.
The two rooms are open to each other, so I’m holding off on showing too many details because I’m going to pick up some paint and get to work. That way I’ll be able to show you prettier before and after photos! Because it’s all about the pretty.
I suppose I really ought to finish painting the trim in the entryway too, eh?

Love it! Working on getting all my trim white — what a difference. Also loving your pink paint. So hard to find the perfect one.
I love that pink so much. It looked great with the wood trim, and it looks equally good with white.
It looks so nice! I have to paint my living and dining room ceilings this summer and am DREADING it. Ceilings make my neck and arms ache! Plus the former owner did them all with oil based paint (wtf) so first I have to prime everything with high bonding primer…sigh.
Wow, it looks so huge and bright! Definitely a big change :)
looks gorgeous. I think this is the first time I noticed your curtains were all the way at the ceiling. Love it.
The trim looks great, and I love that gorgeous mirror!
I try to read all your updates because I’m always so inspired by the choices you make and the projects you tackle. I may have missed this, but just in case you have a moment to reply I’m going to ask whether you also painted the doors white? We have a mid-century home with flat/flush doors and I just don’t know whether to paint them white, sand and refinish in a dark stain, or… Curious to know how you’d handle it.
I haven’t touched the doors yet for the same reason — I’m not sure what I want to do with them.
Such a happy room! Do you just want to sit on the couch and smile?
:)
Very pretty! You did pink proud in this room.
Ok, you have officially given me the encouragement I need to paint our 100 year old, badly damaged, oak trim. This looks so fresh!
Go for it!
Your living room looks fantastic. Light, bright, airy and ready for spring!
Lovely and cheery. Just reminds me that I need to paint all of my trim – it may be white already, but so old it needs a redo.
You must have mentioned it before, but where is your coffee table from?
It was from the Thomas O’Brien line at Target, years ago.
Totally need a before and after here! Looks great! This reminds me more of your style.
I’ll get some before and after action going. Soon, hopefully.
loving this room. my fav is the mirror
Gorgeous! I’ll take light and bright any day!
ahhhh….so light and bright and airy!! A breath of fresh air for spring!!
your blog is extremely good. i am inspired.
Looks lovely! So fresh.
Have you ever considered painting the mirror hanging-clips white? To my eye, it would make them much less obtrusive.
Yes. They blended well when the trim was brown, but now they do stick out a bit. They don’t really bother me, so I’m not sure if I’ll change them or not, but I have been considering it.
so fresh & lovely… enjoy your new surrounds & well done for taking the leap with the trim!
Looks great! Still loving that chevron rug :)
It looks great! I just love white trim.
I love the look of white trim, and yours looks fantastic!
Looks great.. you’ve probably mentioned it before but where’s your rug from? I love it, so bold yet blends perfectly with the room!
Very friendly and inviting! Bravo!
That rug! And the mirror! I just love your whole living room. I do have one question, though, what is the pink thing between the coffee table and the window?
Pretty in Pink! Love the patterned carpet.
Looks good, so fresh and more modern. Can’t wait to see more!
Being from Canada, I couldn’t help but notice that “eh” at the end of your post…. Do you have a little bit of Canadian in you? When I lived in the U.S., I was mystified that people knew I was from Canada until they would point out that I had said “eh”…… Love the white trim by the way :)
Holy moly, what a difference! It is beautiful. I love the rug and the color scheme. You always do such great work, Nicole. Congrats–must feel so nice to have it finished!
oh this room just exudes lovely! lovely, lovely. the pink is so soft. love it. great job!
