This was the second of three baby shower themes I created for a Huggies Pinterest campaign. Welcome to the World, Baby!
I liked the invitations that I designed for this one a lot. They were based on the look of a topological map.
Brandon’s sister, Portia, assisted me again on the day of the shoot. The baby onesies on a clothes line is one of her tried-and-true baby shower decorations. Portia and I were a lot better at the whole food styling thing the second time around.
All photography was done by Tyllie Barbosa in her studio again. Here’s the sweets table. (Those salted caramels were from Trader Joe’s, and now I want some.)
Another diaper cake masterpiece, if I do say so myself. We also filled a vintage baby carriage with diapers, because why not? (That may have been a strange choice on my part.)
Please take a moment to admire the decoupage here, because that was Brandon’s contribution. I was scrambling to get everything done, and he helped out with covering BABY kraft letters with vintage map wrapping paper and Mod Podge.
Also, I want to thank Yearbook. They’re one of my favorite local shops, and they let me borrow the amazing vintage globes you see throughout the photos for the shoot.
You can find more images from the Welcome to the World Baby Shower on Pinterest. The Comic Book Baby Shower can be seen here, and I’ll be sharing photos from the last of my three themes soon.

Where did the little suitcases come from?? My daughter is doing a travel theme nursery for her baby boy and I’d LOVE to get her one or 2 of them. Thanks. Beautiful shower, btw.

Do you have instructions for the mod podge letters with the map?

This theme rocks because, for one, it has maps. But secondly because it reminds me of a story from sister when she was pregnant. Someone walked up to her at the grocery store, leaned down to belly height and shouted “WELCOME TO AMERICA” at her bump. I think she was a little freaked out at the time, but now it’s become our go-to joke for welcoming a baby into the world.

I love it! It’s a creative and sumptuous way to welcome a baby. I love all the ideas from the globe and the food, etc. Everything is just cute and perfect. I no longer have a baby nor am I expecting another one, but I can use this idea for my kid’s birthday party and just tweak it a bit.

What an amazing shower! The diaper cake is fun and so pretty! I am drooling over all of the food….especially that gorgeous cake. Did you make that!

I just love the baby carriage filled with diapers. It makes the table!

Well, look at you, Miss Diaper Cake Queen! I like this one the best. It would be awesome if you could package up all the goods from each shoot and do a little giveaway for your readers. If I were expecting (which I’m not), I’d be over the moon to win one of these lovely showers!

I used so many of our own things, and borrowed from friends (and the globes from Yearbook in this case), that there wouldn’t be much left to giveaway. And of course Portia and I brought all of the food back home to our families! I did give the newborn diapers to my assistant, who was expecting at the time.

Awesome!!

This is fantastic! It’s a great theme, and would be wonderful for a nursery theme too.

Love this!! This is is what our shower was for our little guy! Looked very similar. My best friend had a big world map out on an easel and all of the guests wrote where they wanted our little guy to visit, what to do there, and their names. It is hanging in his room. We just love looking at the places he will go and who wants him to go where. We have already been to some of the places, Hawaii, Paris, New York, and Ireland in his 2 1/2 years (we like to travel). This is my most cherished piece of “art”, I feel the love of our friends and family whenever I see it.

I love that idea too. So sweet.

I love this look and that drink dispenser is so great. Will you start the source?
Making it Lovely
It was from Pottery Barn, but they no longer sell it.

Ok, so I thought yesterday’s was awesome, but today’s? Man, if I EVER have a baby, this will be what I want for my shower. Completely amazing. I love it.
Jennifer
Awesome. I’m blown away.
mary
Really, really well done. My kids are named Holly and Will :)

It must have been funny to see their names on the invitation together!

This is a fun one – not just welcoming a baby into a family, but into the entire world. And I love the decoupage letters with the vintage maps – that would be great for a permanent design element in a baby’s room.

That was my thought behind them. Cute for the shower, then a gift to take home for the nursery.
Lisa
I love this one so much! Even the diaper filled carriage is super cute…and yes, why not?! I am a huge fan of globes and would never have thought of this on my own. Now I am going to steal the idea should baby shower planning arise in the future!
Nikki
I love this! It’s refreshing to see something different and not overly “baby”.
Janine
Absolutely love this!
