  • Butterflies for Sale!

    Butterflies for Sale!

Haha. So, guess what? I changed my mind about the shadowbox butterflies, and they are now up for sale.

I still think they’re super cute, but they’re just not right for me. Hopefully someone (or many someones… there will be seven of these!) can give them a good home. I think they’d even make a great Mother’s Day gift. I’m going to try to make the rest of them (5 more) this weekend if I can find a little time.

If you’re interested, you can check them out at my shop (Pink Loves Brown).

  • Butterflies?

    Butterflies?

I framed a couple of my faux butterflies today.

I think they’re cute, but I’m still not sure if I’m going to hang them. I guess I’m just not a butterfly person (and I have 8 of them)! I may just sell them in my shop if I don’t use them.

  • I need to learn how to sew.

I ordered some fabric from reprodepot with the intention of making my own curtains.

    Fabric for Curtains

Great idea, in theory! The problem is… I don’t know how to sew.

I’m a very crafty lady, and I can do a lot of home improvement projects (I used to be a handyman, er handywoman), but I never learned how to use a sewing machine. I own one, and I’ve never used it!

Is it difficult to learn? I should probably practice on some scrap fabric, I suppose. I think I need to take lessons.

  • Friday’s Flickr Fix

    Friday’s Flickr Fix

Ez from Creature Comforts just started a new flickr group: Friday’s Flickr Fix. “This group is about finding inspiration by juxtaposing (putting side by side) two or more of your flickr favorites to make a statement or tell a story.” Here’s my first submission:

    little houses

The first photo is from Liquid Paper, and the second is from TypeFiend. Aren’t they sweet together? I love the little paper one, in that iconic house shape. And the second one? It’s like a full-sized gingerbread house! There’s just something so wonderful about both of them, especially together. Two perfect, tiny houses.

  • Painting Walls with Picture Rail?

    Painting Walls with Picture Rail?

How do you paint a wall with picture rail? Do you paint the same wall color above and below? Or do you paint the wall color up to the picture rail and then paint the area above the same color as the ceiling?

And what about wallpaper? Only up to the picture rail?

I know… the Photoshopped wallpaper looks ridiculous (also – that’s NOT our dragon on the buffet). Which version looks better though?
