Murray Hill Noel Stevie Baby Bag

A lot of moms skip the diaper bag and just shove everything in a big purse. Not me. I like the compartments, the organization, and the easy-to-clean interiors of a dedicated bag. And if one happens to come in a great shape and shade of pink? All the better.

    Kate Spade Owl Purse

While everyone (myself included) was busy coveting your new clothes, I just wanted to know one thing… How can I get my hands on that owl purse? Well it turns out that the stores have them, though not in large quantities. I bought one of the three that the Chicago store had received, and now it is mine. All mine. An extravagant yet dearly appreciated early birthday present courtesy of Brandon. I’m a lucky gal.

    Style: April ’09

Oh, April. My last month being pregnant, hooray! One last maternity look before I have to start dressing 24-7 for easy boob access.

    Style: April '09

I like this maternity shirt dress, and of course it’s easy to find shirt dresses like this one for the majority of you that are not currently pregnant. I often wear simple dresses because when the dress is understated, everything else stands out. For jewelry, I would wear something like this pink and gold pearl bracelet on one side and this lovely ring on the other.

I hadn’t bought a new purse since early last year (I bought the one in my very first style post), so when I fell in love with this yellow ruffled purse I decided to splurge. In fact, in that post I was talking about how I’d rather buy one quality item than five less than stellar cheapies, and I’ve stuck with that!

OK… until I got to the shoes. These little white flats are cheapies, but they’re so cute! And comfortable! And I needed a pair of shoes in a larger size because I can’t very well walk around barefoot in public and none of my other shoes fit at this point. Besides, I don’t think every item needs to be an investment piece – a nice mix of high and low is always nice. Wouldn’t you agree?

Looks like I’m loving ruffles this month…

    Style: December '08

I’m not normally a big fan of Steve Madden shoes, but I saw these Impereal T-Strap Ruffled Pumps in a shop window and was instantly smitten. The Knitted Ruffle Dress from Boden looks like the kind of comfy, warm dress that would be perfect all fall and winter (and would likely fit over my ever-expanding midsection). To counter all of the frilliness in the outfit so far, I think the Monogram Bowler Handbag would be an excellent choice. Simple tights would keep your legs warm, and bright red lipstick would liven things up a bit.

OK, now this is where I have to just gush over Cookoorikoo’s necklaces. I met Shana last year at Design*Sponge’s Biz Ladies event here in Chicago, and I’ve seen her in local shows a whole bunch since then. I already own two of her necklaces, and I just bought the partly sunny yo-yo necklace that’s shown above. BUT, Shana has similar styles available in her shop, and she also does custom orders (so you can get the same colors as mine if you want to).

  • A Lovely Second Purse

I’ve finished my second purse! It was much more complex than my first, and there was a lot of hand stitching involved.

(I’m lovin’ those Deco Remix shoes.)

I used Indygo Junction’s “Metropolitan” pattern, from purlsoho.com (scroll down a bit – it’s halfway down the page).

It may not be perfect, but I’m really pleased with the finished project!
